I usually cook mine in the crock but then i try to carefully take them out without tearing them up and put them on a cookie sheet and bbq them in the oven so the sauce will caramelize a little i tried putting the bbq in the pot before and it seemed to turn into a big pot of mush

The onions and celery will not tenderize the ribs, but the slow cooker will make them fall-off-the-bone good. Sometimes I add green peppers, onions & tomatoes, and serve over rice -- add some pineapple at the end of cooking time..

The slow cooking in the crock pot is what will do the tenderizing but add in all the veggies you want and it will come out great.

oinions and celery are more of a flavor than a tenderizer. cooking them on lowest setting and for a longer period of time should tenderize perfectly. that is the great thing about crock pot cooking.
