Whwn they call, either pretend you're crazy or (I like this way better) just say, "Can you please hold on sir/madam?" and just never pick up the phone and reply again.

Telemarketers are people too, so perhaps its best to take steps to avoid the initial contact in the first place. You can add your number to a "Do not call list" or politely ask a company to cease calling you and your not interested. If the aforementioned fail, then here's what you should do: keep a whistle next to your phone. When the next unfortunate telemarketer calls, blow the whistle and you may even have the fortunate experience of hearing them scream in pain as a possible 100+ dB go into their ear. This is sure to piss them off enough that they will take your name off the call list and you won't have to waste time with them.

Say in a loud voice, "I'm sorry I'm hard of hearing - can you speak up?" And when they speak up, say, "I'm sorry I can't hear you," in an even louder voice. By the 3rd or 4th time repeating that phrase, they usually hang up and don't call back. Remember that they don't want to waste their time either because most of the telemarketers are being timed. Don't get nasty with them...try to remember that they must really need the money to be desperate enough to take a telemarketing job! And, you can request to be removed from their list, and by law, they must remove your name and number.

I try to keep them on the phone as long as possible, explaining how I'm disabled and I have hernias and the last surgery didn't fix the problem so I have to sit on a donut. Then I go on to tell them the donut is uncomfortable when I have diarrhea...yada, yada, yada, and lastly I let them know I'm on the Attorney Generals Do Not Call List.

Yeah, ask them to hold on for a second and put the phone down. Spend about 5 minutes doing anything (watching/yelling at the T.V. and having mock fights with my boyfriend are my favorites). Come back to phone, let them start their spiel, ask a few questions about their product and then scream, "I don't want any!" and slam the phone down.

Yes answer the next:
"Well I don't have time to talk right now give me your phone number and I'll call you back"
When s/he replies that they can't / aren't allowed to do that answer:
"I guees you don't wanna people keep calling you at home"
When s/he answers yes, reply: "Well now you know what I feel" and hang up
I applied this a few times and had never bothered again

Well, say that you can't talk right now, and ask them for their name, hpone number, address, everything.
They will say they don't want to give it to you, as it is personal information.
You can then ask them why are they calling you, because everything here is personal, and you don't want telemarketers.
Figure out the rest from there:)

Pretend you can't heard them, say you don't speak English, or keeping asking the same question over and over again.

screech really really really loudly...my father did this once and it sent me flying out of the room and into the kitchen, sliding in my socks. So, let your family know first.
