Absolutely, you can spend less than $2,500 for a nice engagement ring. I would suggest that you go to a reputable jeweler or take a friend or family member that has knowledge on diamonds to shop with.
Make sure you compare shop. The clarity and color of the diamond are more important than the size.
Congratulations and good luck!

My fiance bought my first ring for about $500...it was beautiful and I loved it..than on our 2 year anniversary he suprised me with a newly upgraded diamond. I went from a 1/3 carat to a 1 carat. He spent about $2000 on it. I loved my $500 ring and it was beautiful..i think a good size is probably 1/2 carat to start off. I like that he didnt spend too much and by doing that it became a down payment for the second ring.

Yes you can, actually I have friends that did it there own way... He got here a beautiful diamond engagement band and had it personalized with there planned weeding date inside...He didn't have alot of money so he decided to be different and she love it. I think he got it for like 1400 at Bailey Banks and Biddle. It's very very nice and it was just enough until he saved enough to get her something bigger and better for there wedding day!
You can be original don't do what everybody does because everybody can't afford the same thing. I think all in all my husband spent about 10,000 on my rings and that's because my engagement ring was the most expensive because he had it custom made for me.... That's nice but if you can't do it then go your own way...
She loves you regardless of what you get here... I had no idea of what I was getting but if he would have gotten me something else I still would have loved it because it came from the heart and that's all that matters... Women just love diamonds and once her friends know she's getting married she will be the most hated on anyway, don't worry...
Congrat's and goodluck!!!
Marriage is what YOU make it... We have been married 3 months and it's had it's ups and downs but that's what we are in it together for.

1. Don't listen to the person who told you not to get married before 30. If you're sure, then go ahead and do it. You have been together for 6 years.
2. My fiancee went to Belden's and got me a 1/2 carat past, present, future engagement ring that was on sale for $600 (I picked it out). I love it. It's simple - not gaudy. Blue Nile has one just like it here: http://www.bluenile.com/product_details.asp?oid=5776&nav1=settings_channel.asp&track=row_9mod_4&elem=img.
Make sure you know what type of cut she prefers and do your homework on diamonds...too many jewelers (especially Kay's) sell overpriced diamonds with horrible clarity.

A nice ring is a loaded question...nice means different things to different people. If you're looking for something around 1 carat, then you're looking on spending triple your budget for something decent. Go to www.bluenile.com and take a look at what they have to offer...the company is fantastic and the customer service is top notch. It will give you a better idea of what you can afford...

traditionally you should spend a months wages on one seriously I read it cant remember where though. However myself personally I wont care how much was spent if the chap went out and chose it himself and it was a surprise. Solitares dont suit everyone i tryed one on and it didnt look right for me it would have to be very big single stone. But hey a thought why not go for a three stone ring it stands for past present and future it goes with engagements they are (fiance) your past present and future. Shes getting engaged to you and not a ring

they is really a nice ring for that price. so don't be embarrassed. you could get a nice 1/2 caret solitare for that price or even bigger.you should be able to get the ring set for that price or with a solitare you could get matching gold rings. see what she would like, matching wedding bands or engagenment/wedding band set.

you shouldnt be getting married before 30 years old. you have a lot of partying and ladies to get out of your system. if you get married now , yes it could work out but in the back of your mind you will always be wondering if you did the right thing. are you ready to have sex with the same person for the rest of your life????????
