That doesn't happen to me since I switched hair stylists. When I say how much I want off she cuts that much off and I recently got long bangs and I told her how much shorter I wanted them and she cut off less and then asked me if I wanted more....and I didn't. If you go somewhere crappy like Cost Cutters that may happen, so pay a little more for a better cut.

Yep, it's very irritating! I put up with this for several years from my hairdresser, then I finally changed and now I love how this other gal cuts my hair. It was as if she wasn't listening to what I wanted, and she just did what she wanted to do, I was always frustrated, but now I have a great hairdresser, you might need to switch.
Showing them a pic always helps too. I saw a girl and asked who cut her hairstyle, then I went to her stylist and have been there ever since.

yes i hate when that happens! but i think they cut off more to make sure the bad ends are definitly cut off...
* next time just be forceful and tell them you only want a small portion cut off. maybe show how much with ur fingers.

You need a new stylist. They should never cut more than you specify if they are a good stylist. Good ones give you the cut YOU want, not they cut THEY want you to have.

well... my hair dresser used to do that ALL the time... but then i got so fed up with it, i just said to her, "You better stop chopping my hair to pieces!" she stopped choppping my hair off so i was happy. but if your problem continues, then i would say to take your business elsewhere!
