Help others less fortunate. Go to your local shelter and volunteer an extra set of hands this day, not only will you keep busy until Mom & Dad get off work but the gift of giving your time and your self is what this glorious holiday is all about.

I do know how you feel, truly. My family live abroad and I lived in the University where I studied Nursing. As Christmas came closer I thought that I was going to have to get a small meal to eat and stay alone in my Uni room. The thought was quite upsetting. Sitting and eating alone while everyone was away. Then as Christmas due near. I got 5 invites to peoples houses over Christmas. At first I thought this was just pity and didn't know what to do. Then a very kind mature Asian lady said that If I wasn't too busy over Christmas, would I come over and share Christmas with her and her family. As she seemed the most genuine I went and had a good time.
The upshot to this is you do not have to be alone while there are others around you. Maybe you can help out at a charity place or a homeless shelter. You have performed a worthy task and met some interesting people. Christmas is for sharing and not just presents. Good luck and God bless you. Let us know how you got on.

I know it sounds like an old cliche, but why dont you do voluntary work on xmas day? Visit a nursing home and visit old people who have no family to visit them. Or help out with a homeless project or the salvation army helping make xmas less lonely for someone? hope this helps.

i have spent many x-mas alone. you said that your parents are both working that day, so are we to assume that you still live at home? either way. this will keep you busy. plan nice dinner for your parents when they come home.if you don't live with them ask them if they mind you coming over and just being there that you don't want to sit at your place alone.don't tell them your plans, it should be a surprise. make a nice dinner with desert. this will make you feel good that you did something for them and it will make them feel good that you spent your day doing this.

There are a lot of volunteer programs. You don't have to volunteer all day, just 3-4 hours if you like. However, believe me, once there, you will not want to leave.
