A blighted ovum is just a sac, there is no fetus. You should have had an ultrasound done to be absolutely certain if you are pregnant or not. To leave an empty sac, you are risking further problems with your health and quite possibly the risk of having difficulty getting pregnant again. Please go see your doctor.

The best news I can share is at 4 weeks, there really isn't much to see on an ultrasound! Around 5-6 weeks is when the doctor can see a yolk sac. Just because nothing showed at 4 weeks doesn't mean anything is necessarily wrong.

I had a positive HPT a couple of days ago and my doctor couldn't see anything on an ultrasound, either. It was about 32 days past my LMP, putting me right around 4 weeks. My doctor took a blood sample for a quantative HCG count, and will do another one tomorrow. If the levels have at least doubled, I'm definitely pregnant.

If you're 6 weeks along, you should definitely see your doctor again (or at the very least take another pregnancy test). You need to know one way or another that everything is going okay.

Honey, I understand how you feel. I actually had something like this happen to me. I refused to believe that I was not pregnant and even stayed in bed to try to keep a baby that was not there! As long as I stayed in bed I did not bleed. Finally I started bleeding to the point where I had to have a D&C and they said that there was a normal functioning placenta, thus all the symptoms of pregnancy, but no baby at all. This is called a Molar pregnancy. I am not saying that is what you have, I am merely relating to how you are feeling.
You really need to go back and see the doctor again. Do what ever she thinks is the best thing.
If there is no baby there honey, the longer you wait, the longer it will be before you can have a perfectly normal pregnancy! Think of it that way.
Take care and you have my sympathy. I know how hard this is.
Feel free to write to me anytime, I will respond.
Love and Blessings

not sure either hun, im sure you get the symptoms for a couple of weeks but then they probally start to fade away. a blighted ovum will not last longer than 12 weeks, you need to go to the doctors and get another ultrasound to ease your mind!!
