You cannot buy coving paper. I put some polystyrene coving up and filled the joins but they still showed, and the coving looked cheap. I went into Wilkinsons and bought some deep relief pattern border paper. I then measured the height of the coving and cut the border paper to size (to cover the curved part only). You will need a stanley knife and metal ruler. I pasted it with border paste then lined up a few chairs along the wall so I could step from one to the other, sticking the paper continuously on the coving. When it was dry I gave it two coats of emulsion paint. The coving now looks like the expensive plaster sort you can buy.

You might have a hard time finding a dollar store that sells origami paper so I would call ahead and ask. The Michaels near you most likely carries origami paper, the one near me does but I can't say for sure about the one in Calgary.
