So, if Christians are as evil as Muslims, should President Bush have ordered the death of Dan Brown??

Do Muslims not offer freedom of speech and freedom of religion?? Is that a good or a bad thing?? Is it better to live in a land of freedom and allow everyone to have their say or in a strictly controlled box ??

Apart from being a head of state, ayatollah khomeini was the head of shiite muslims, so the comparison is not accurate.

it would be as if the pope ordered the death of dan brown. plus dan brown did not make fun of jesus, he just proposed a scandalous idea. Salman Rushdie said that prophet Muhammad used going out in drinking rounds with girls (or something of a kind, i don´t remember exactly, i read his book a long time ago). that, for most Muslims, is something unforgivable. the average Muslim takes religious matters far more serious than the average catholic. plus, their sense of honor is completely different.

in most of Islamic states (not to say all of them) freedom of speech is minimum, to say the least. naturally, for us westerners that is an awful thing.

for many Muslims, it is better to live in a state in which everything revolves around Islam. for us, it is natural and indispensable to have freedom of speech and free will. difference is that we live in the 21st century, whereas for them, Islamic states are trapped in rules and precepts that were issued in the 7th century

Thanks to our Democratic systems Mr. Dan Brown can enjoy life thanks to the money he has made on that novel of his that, despite the fact of being mostly a copy of another novel and a total hoax, has met with a remarkable success.
For the time being, most Muslim rulers (perhaps with the exception of Turkey to a certain degree only) do not offer any freedom of speech and/or of religion.
That is definitely a bad thing, at least by our standards. And I would say that it is certainly better live in a land of freedom and allow everyone to have their say, although this freedom should not be used to insult or slander others.

You are right. Why are you getting so many thumbs down for criticizing a fatwa against Salman Rushdie? Isn't this America? Why do these people think they can come here and use our freedom of speech to condom us? Where are your supporters? how come more thumbs down than thumbs up? It's interesting to note that no one in Islam DENIES what is in the satanic verses. The reason is that the what rushdie is talking about is a mainstream part of the religion.....the idea that satan possessed mohammad and spoke through him.

The reason for the fatwa wasn't because he slandered Islam (which he most certainly did not). The reason is that he revealed this part of Islam to the western world. Muslims, at the time, had an intense fear that this would reveal Islam to be a sham. Muhammad couldn't possibly be a true prophet because true prophets are protected by God. More to the point, satan speaking through Muhammad strongly implicates that Islam is, in fact, a satanic religion. Only seriously EVIL people and/or those who invite it, can be possessed by demonic forces.

Muslims were all deathly afraid of the incredible shame this would bring to them once the rest of the world found out the true nature of Islam and the fact that everyone in Islam knows about it (why do you think they routinely engage in such acts of heinous evil....duh)

They might as well not have bothered. Few to none of the people in the western world grasped the implications of rushdie's book. The three main ones being that Muhammad could not have been a true prophet of God, the Quran is not the immutable word of God since the satanic verses were later expunged, and that the event itself strongly implies that Islam is satanic in nature. These three things basically tear Islam apart at its seems based on their belief system. All muslims are living a lie. They are ASHAMED of this. However, no one in the western world cares enough to notice. That's why rushdie isn't dead by now. The muslims now know that what he did is not as big a deal as they thought.

Well we hate the Israelites because they stole our land from us. Christians and Jews can live in Muslim countries as long as they pay a tax than they can not be harmed. In Saudi Arabia for example which I think is the ONLY ACTUAL ISLAMIC STATE there are only Muslims living there and no one of other religions can enter Saudi Arabia. HAHA. In Saudi for example if a Christian or ALLAH forbid a Jew comes into there than they are thrown in jail and than deported back to their country and kicked out pretty much. Muslims are not evil. We don't invade other countries and attack people like the Israelites and Christians. Why do you think Hezbollah is fighting Israel? It's because Israel attacked Lebanon and is sending missels into Lebanese country and all the little Jewish brats I mean children are killing Lebanese Muslim women and children. The president of Leb is a Christian and the VP is a Muslim. And I can't commet on some idiot who was stupid enough to write a book on Satanism in a Muslim country.

Its really a matter of choice. If you allow people to make fun of religion you will soon have more people think that religion is ridiculous and totally abandon it. That's why there are more atheists in places where there is freedom of speech as well as better education. All America needs is no more Creationism B***S*** at schools and Christianity will soon become a minority!

Islam recognized from the very beginning the principle of freedom of belief or freedom of religion. It said very clearly that it is not allowed to have any coercion in the matters of faith and belief. The Qur'an says, (There is no compulsion in religion) (Al-Baqarah 2:256).
