HAHAHAHAHA yeah right buddy!!! Christians are very Ignorant and un educated...that's why you still believe in 1000 year old mythology with no proof....you constantly come up with excuses to justify your beliefs, Disregard the beliefs of the rest of the entire world and then you have the audacity to claim that if anyone else believes something else other then what you do they are going to burn in hell!!! HAHAHAHA you are ignorant

I am not saying they are ignorant-I have just said they do not use reasoning and logic when it comes to religion. There is no G-d but G-d. God is One-not a trinity.

Oh-and you mention education. From all the mistakes here, I'd say you lack English writing and grammar education.

''so if THERE ignorant that must be because all the bible bashers have READ the bible and UNDERSTAND it and don't LACK any information, RIGHT! because I'm dang sure more Christians have went through much much more education than atheists''.

There are so many mistakes in the above. The two that REALLY get me tho, are:
1.THERE ignorant instead of they are.
2. Have went through-the correct verb tense is have gone through.

"because I'm dang sure more Christians have went through much much more education than atheists."

Really? Because studies show the more education you get, the more likely you are to become an atheist.

Was there a question in your rant somewhere, though?

BTW, I was raised Christian and have read most of the Bible, much of it more than once. And the more education I got, the more I allowed myself to question my beliefs, the more it lead me away from Christianity and religion in general.

Not saying everyone should do the same as me, just that your underlying thesis simply cannot be supported by any evidence.

You're making a bold statement, sure: it's simply wrong.

One final thought: I certainly don't think all Christians are ignorant. They simply haven't all examined their beliefs closely enough to see the obvious flaws and discrepencies in the Bible and in their thinking. However, if the point of your post is to decry the fact that some people are calling Christians ignorant, wouldn't it behoove you to write a carefully analytical post, backed up with actual sources and evidence and carefully written to avoid common spelling and grammar mistakes - unlike what you've written above?

Cheers and good luck with your own journey.

Ignorant: lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact

The phrase "Christians are ignorant" rings true. In a way, we are all ignorant because we can't know everything. No person has the mental capacity to hold that much information. That phrase is used to often because we of the non-religious sect only hear about how we are going to hell or why we can't just accept the lord. To us, you are being ignorant in not understanding the opposite side. Any educated person that wants to make an argument to one side or the other should have at least a basic understanding of the opposite belief.
And if you, as a Christian, are more educated than Atheists, why can't you use the correct conjunction for "They are"?

Well, I am a Christian, and sometimes I am ignorant about a particular subject. An athiest pointed out to me that the Bible, the original Bible, does not condemn all Homosexual activity.

He was not a homosexual and I am not a homosexual. (so please don't say that we are biased on the subject.)

Homosexuality was and is repulsive to me. Someone wearing a baseball cap backwards is also repulsive to me.

Back on point: The original verse did not say "a man should not lay with another man like he would lay with a woman" . But in 1611 when the Bible was first translated into English, the religious leaders, in order to build their empires put pressure on the translators to twist that original verse. (Have you noticed that religious empire encourage the propogation of large families, lots of children, so that those children will grow up and grow their particular religious empire. Homosexuals do not propogate big families, so churches discourage homosexuality)

The original verse said, to the effect "A married man should not spend sexual time with another man because it would cause disharmony with his wife" - If you have a hebrew speaking Jewish friend he can help you with that original Bible text, which of course is written in Hebrew.)

Its the same with Sodom and Gamorrah: God was not condemning Homosexuality, (it had been there for hundred of years) he was condemning "gross Disharmony"

My point: I, too, do not like to be called ignorant. But, if someone can point out some information that I am lacking, well it's ok with me.

Well, I have rambled enough. Sorry for that.

PS: I suppose I have an obligation to say what I believe in:

I believe God's message is this:

Harmony is harmony.

Disharmony is the only sin against God. (Religious empires will never tell us that the message is that simple.)

I'm an atheist but I do actually agree that the word 'ignorant' is bandied about too much on these message boards. Having said that, your sentence 'Christians have went through much much more education than atheists.' does have a couple of glaring grammatical errors in it.

Your knowledge of a fictional book far, far exceeds mine and always will but I think I can live with that. Also, your questions relating to homosexuality, while not exactly ignorant, are a slice of rabid, frothing at the mouth psychosis. It's rather hypocritical to say leave us alone when you post non-questions' about how homosexuals and non-believers will be sent to 'hell' unless they repent. Practise what you preach, my dear.

You mean Bible education or REAL education. Because the concept of non-ignorant Christians seem hard to grasp when they keep on insisting that evolution is "just a scientific theory and cannot be proven". Well, so is gravity. And the definition of a scientific theory is different from the definition of a regular theory. A scientific theory is not something that gets refined until it becomes a law, it is a law.

I'm an agnostic humanist... I've read most of the Bible (and certainly covered the more popular passages in 2 decades of sunday schooling and church attendance)

I've even been on a mission trip at a Mexican orphanage, and taken part in many group activities with youth groups from all over the place.

I also own 2 copies and have read many parts of the Quran, and have studied most major religions briefly at the least.

Can the average Christian claim this? Let me know.

edit: also read and studied X-lit like CS lewis and Bunyan and Dante

Everyone is ignorant about something. The problem with a forum like this is you get every view and MOST believe they are absolutely right, no matter what side they're on. So, since they're right, the other side must be ignorant. But it does come from both sides. If one side has to resort to calling anyone stupid or ignorant or demeaning intelligence than they do not seem as sure of their own argument. If people concentrate on their own beliefs as the argument for or against something they show wisdom. Again, no matter what side you're on.

Most of us who think Christians are "ignorant" is because they attack us if we point out discrepancies in the Bible... I believe in God, not religion... there are too many people teaching the Bible who are not educated in religion, or if they are, only Christianity... but they have no qualms speaking of other religions that they have no knowledge or teaching in... and their information is usually wrong.

I invited some Baptists into my home and they went on and on about how God wouldn't listen to you unless you called him by his proper name... I told them this was silly because they did not speak Aramaic, and therefore, God wouldn't listen to them either... This enraged them and they told me I was the tare in the wheat and the tare story... '

To this date, I believe in God, A Universal God, but I do not believe in most Christians. They are misled about what the Bible actually says.

Additionally, titheing was for supporting your minister or priest who was not allowed to make a living because he was serving God... It is supposed to be to help the community now, but many very large church denominations hoard it to be the most wealthy church... This is not what the Bible teaches.

Don't assume all who think this have no education... many have had it crammed down their throats their whole lives and have seen so many hypocritic acts or writings, they can do nothing but dismiss it all...

God is omniscient. He knows what is in your heart, and if you pray every day, he knows you are not true if your heart is not doing the right things... like taking care of the orphans and widows... Assisting those in need, and learning to get along with everybody.

Christians fit the term ignorant, in fact i looked up the word ignorant in the dictionary and i couldve sworn i saw a large group of christians at a youth camp. (i was kidding about seeing a picture of christians by the word ignorant, but seriously if you dont want to be called ignorant THEN DONT ACT IGNORANT!!!)

OH and in case you want to know christians fit all three descriptions
1.without education or knowledge - christians lack knowledge of the spirit world, the after life, other religions, nature, if animals really have souls, real spirituality etc.
2.Exhibiting lack of education or knowledge - martin luther said education was the devil, and most christians still agree today.
3. Unaware or uninformed - christians are very unaware of anything outside thier religious community, you know how i KNOW THIS? personal experience!
