Why does there seem to be so many religious cults in the USA? I was watching Oprah and it had all these cults, some had a million wives and even more children, one of them were the seventh day adventists...why does the government let it go on? I mean why don't they step in and free all the innocent children caught up in these ghastly cults?

So having sex with your own children and your grandchildren is ok with you? Seems sick to me. Freedom of religion is all well and good but did you ask your kids what they felt about it before you had sex with them??

It's their way of life and I agree it is sick. I think the stupid government is too preoccupied in Iraq right now to care about the people in America and stop these horrendous acts from occuring. Shame isn't it that the "land of the free" cares more about stealing oil from the Middle East and terrorizing Muslims than taking care of its own citizens problems at home right here in the USA.

It is their right to make the choice to go to these churches. It is a parents right to raise their children in these cults. Who gets to decide which religions are wrong and which one are right? You? Where do you draw this proverbial line? Take me for instance, I think that all religion is psychologically damaging to a young, innocent and impressionably child who will believe any nonsense you force feed them. Aren’t you glad I’m not the one drawing that line.
See how you can’t make a rule like that. The only think you can do come up with guidelines on abuse and govern that. It can’t have to do with which god you pray to though. If the children are being physically or sexually abuse then they should take them away and our government does have laws in place to do just that (they don’t always work and there are flaws and loopholes to get around these).
I agree that it can sometimes be a tragedy, but the only difference between a cult and the catholic church is the catholic church claims there profits are all dead (or at least not hanging around anymore).

Because it's called "freedom of religion", even though it's harmful, people have the right to choose. When I studies Religions in college, the person who usually joins a cult was defined as someone who didn't have a stable home life, felt lost, and was searching for something they felt they couldn't find in traditional religions.
I find this to be true, as the same thing could be said of people who join gangs. They join and feel the gang is their "family". And the same with the cults.

Not all cults have sex with children or do annything that violate someone. Some cults live in very peaceful and loving like polyphonic spree.

After reading your addition to your question, I must add to my answer.
It is a sick, warped, and very twisted thing that has happened to these children. They should be safeguarded, and even the mothers should be put away for allowing harm to come to their children. when it stops being just a religious belief system, and starts putting young Innocent children in danger, then the government needs to step in and put a stop it it immediately.

Also they would have to shut down all of them, since they are all cults, that's what a religion is the number of practitioners is what distinguishes it from a cult or a sect.

Who said the children need to be freed? Is there some abuse going on? You mean they are doing something that you don't believe in so it should be addressed?
