Why can't I order software from Canada? I wanted some French software for my kids, and the online store (large well known online store) cannot send this to the US. We can order books and videos, but not software. Why? This same software is not available in the U.S., so it can't be a an issue of taking business away from the U.S.

I don't fully understand it either.

All I really know about this type of situation it that it has something to do with "Import Laws".

Even when you buy software here in the US, read the fine print. You are not allowed to transfer or ship it to other countries. You can take it to another country as in a laptop as long as you bring it back with you.

Not sure why the laws are so restrictive on software when you can get nearly anything else shipped here.

tons of reason
they dotn want to pay the tarriffs or taxes in order to send to the US (export out)
they aren't allowed to.

there are a bunch of great Frehcn software available in the US.

Could be any of a number of reasons. If you can say what program you were trying to order, and from where, perhaps I can be of more help.
