Don't feel pressured into things that u don't want to do... cause then u will regret it... As for them making u feel like a mutant, Everyone is unique and different, if we were all the same the world would be a pretty boring place... All i can say is just don't rush... In the end your the one that is going to have to deal with the outcome...

Definitely a tough delima and can I first just say "you go girl!" Being able to enjoy being single is so important because you know what, it will get you ready for better relationships than you've ever had before. My advice. Be straight with your freinds and fam and tell them that you're enjoying this decision you've made and that if they aren't willing to be supportive of it then they need to keep their mouth's shut! Sounds to me like some of them may just be thinking in a very small minded, judgmental way.

Lots of people do. Society tells us that couplehood is one of the most important social benchmarks to reach, but those of us who are single by choice — like you and me — will always end up getting stigmatized for that choice in some way. Next time someone asks you, "Why don't you have a boyfriend?" just smile and say, "I haven't met anyone worth my time." If you make it clear that you're looking out for number one, they might cool it.
I agree with love dove. We need a group for straight single women who love their independence more than guys. Wanna join?

People are chronic match makers. As a society we generally believe that one is only half and two is whole and complete. It's not true, obviously. Enjoy your alone time. Some of life's most fascinating discoveries are made when we are sharing time with just ourselves and finding out where we want to go from here. Don't let them wear you down, as long as you are content.

So exactly how happy ARE the married couples in your family? Do they fight a lot? Do they spend time together, or can't stand being in the same room together? Tell them to look at their own lives before they judge you, and then they need to mind their own business. You live your life for YOU, and not to fit someone else's timetable.

...I feel you; I'm rocking in the same boat. No one realizes the peace I have in my life, without the drama. I think some people are stuck in loveless marriages and relationships and envies the person who is content with themselves and their situation. Girl, continue to do "your thing" that's why they're trying to make you feel "stupid" because they're HATERS...show them what you're made of!! You go, single girl, God will bless you "with the one" someday & you don't have to look for it...don't settle for less nor listen to unwarranted comments about YOUR LIFE!!!

Simply because you have nobody around. They are used to seeing this from you, used to seeing people around you. Perhaps because they are not seeing this now, they think something else may be the matter, and you are hiding this as not to burden them. Just reinforce that you are OK, that you are simply enjoying the alone time.......they'll see this.

Because they worry and they just want to make sure you are happy. And maybe too they want grandkids. Just reassure them that you have not found the right one.
