Don't let the badgering discourage you. I'm a health professional and I had my two year old's ears pierced. And gold IS the best thing to have it done with. You did nothing wrong. Yes, take her back to Claire's. They should be able to remove the earring and insert another one without having to re-pierce.

They are only 24 kt gold plated, not pure. 14 kt is better and what they should have recommended(I worked there for over a year). Depending on when they were bent, they may replace them. If it was a bend from when they did the peircing, they should. If it happened later, it is up to them. However, after only a week, when you take it out, there is a chence you won't get a new one in. That soon in the peircing and with a child that age, healing can begin quickly. Call the store and find out when the manager will be in(not assistant or associate). They are the ones who are most experienced and can decide the best what to do. There is a possiblity they will have to repeirce right then. If the ear is red and swollen, get the earing cut off right away! It could be infected. Have a doctor do the cutting just to make sure, though.
As a side note: One thing that most of the people forget to tell you is NEVER tighten the earing. The back should be in that little grove on the end of the post-it won't fall off. Tightening can result in higher risk of infection and the skin attaching to the earing back.

Sounds like the piercing gun malfunctioned and bent the post during peircing.
I'd take your daughter, with the ear ring in her head, to clairs, tell them youre having it removed, and ask for a replacement.
I wouldnt remove it though until her ears have healed, otherwise you'll have to get it repierced.

definelty. go back with the reciept and be like i paid 45 bucks to u for an ear peircing and u screwed it up lol, but if she did it, i dont think they will
and plus, as to everyone else, my ears were peirced when I was 2 and my sister when she was 6. I work with children all the time and they all have their ears peirced. you can pierce a child's ears at any age. it doesn't matter!!!

First, Never ever pierce a child under 11 with gold. Its to weak and to many people have gold allergies. They should have used the hypoallergenic posts or sterling silver. This would have avoided the issue of bending posts because of the weakness of gold.
Place like that just let anyone one pierce ears. You are given a basic training, No real training, no state certification nothing and your able to pierce ears. Shocking when you think about it that they are even able to pierce a babies ears.
They don't have to replace them. They may because it would be the nice thing to do, but they don't have to like I said. As for you saying they will have to be cut off. 24kt gold is very weak and should be able to be bent back fairly easy, As painful and irritating as this may be for your child it may be the easiest way. Then go to an actual jeweler and buy her a more quality set of earrings to place in her new pierced ears.
Good luck to you and your little one, Here's to hoping this causes her as little pain as possible..

If it was not bent when the peircing was done then it's not Claires fault.

Take her to Claires.
I would also recommend a lower karet weight on the gold. The lower the number, the stronger the gold is.
Good luck!
