I wonder why you say you stand corrected about worshiping God.
I take it your question is directed to the Muslims here.
I had well educated Saudi Muslim friend here, whom I loved debating about our Religions with, because he wasn't rabid and was very gentle.and courteous.
He'd said that the Muslims worshiped God and that the God was the same one as that of the Old Testament and the New Testament. So, I asked him if it wasn't true that they believe "La illah ilillah" or "There is no God, but God".
Naturally, he agreed, immediately.
Then I asked him which of the two Gods was True and which was the Fake. Naturally, he agreed that the first was True and the second was Fake.
Then I asked him wasn't the first - Allah and the second the God of the Jews and the Christians which Mohammad had said it was the sacred duty of all his people to "enlighten" the kaffirs about? The "flaws" in the Torah and the "Injeel [the Muslim version of the New Testament; which calls the Christian version a lie and corrupted version] and he had to agree that I was right.
So, you see, we worship different Gods, according to them.
Many will deny this, but let me quote from the Koran itself.
A Muslim must not take a Jew or a Christian for a friend (surah 5:51).
Muslims must fight until their opponents submit to Islam (surah 9:29
Resisting Islam is punished by death, crucifixion or the cutting off of the hands and feet
(surah 5:33).
Sura 8.12 "Remember thy lord has inspired the angels with the message. Give firmness to the believers and instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers. Smite them above their necks and smite the fingertips of them."
Sura 9.5 "When the sacred months have passed, kill the idolaters whereever you find them."
Sura 47.4 "When you encounter the unbelievers, Strike off their heads. Untill you have made a wide slaughter among them tie up the remaining captives."
What can I say? There are more, but, I think this will suffice.

Did not see first contribution, but right we are not required to kill heathens, yet in the past as a group it has been done often and in many different ways. I think perhas Muslims have a similar state of affairs as the Qur'an states aggression is wrong. As far as I can tell it is only justified in response to oppresion or outside aggression, however certainly oppressive governments who have a Muslim population, have used killing as a way of being in control.

Unfortunately the Koran remained in the era it was written and the religious fanatics literally take every word written in it as the will of Allah, this is the problem with all the killings of infidels by the Muslims, they actually believe that they'll go to Paradise where banquets of food and 72 virgins for each one of them await them. Remember that it is the command of Allah for the hole world to become Muslim or else.

This line from the Qoran is often taken out of context. It comes from the time when Muslums were being attacked. God was giving them the right of self defense. Not much different from the bible, when God told the Hebrews to kill the Canaanites and steal their land.

Not really true. There are several parts in the Bible where Christians are specifically instructed to kill non-Christians.
Peter claims that Dt.18:18-19 refers to Jesus, saying that those who refuse to follow him (all non-Christians) must be killed. Acts 3:23
The "wrath of God" is on all unbelievers. John 3:36
(Luke 19:22-27)
"But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me."
In the parable of the talents, Jesus says that God takes what is not rightly his, and reaps what he didn't sow. The parable ends with the words of Jesus: "bring them [those who preferred not to be ruled by him] hither, and slay them before me."
(Matthew 10:21)
"Brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children ... their parents."
Families will be torn apart because of Jesus. (This is one of the few "prophecies" in the Bible that has actually come true.)

Here we go again. This is getting old. Yes the Qur'an commands Muslims to kill all kaafurs but that doesn't mean we are suppossed to actually go and do that unless it is in war and then we can go to war and kill people who attack us first or invade our counries and threaten Islam or Muslims in general. And we can not kill or do harm to women, children, or the elderly.

Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill. You make it sound like Christians want to go out and kill kill kill. Only God chooses what wars need to be fought and by whom.

Muslims are not ordered to harm any one. But these days media, politicians, televangelist and basically whoever wishes to tell lies, wrong information about Islam, out of context quotes from Quran. People who don't have a clue about subject talk like they know it all.

The death of anyone is no light matter.Unless you are protecting yourself or others from death,I do not think it is a good idea for anybody to kill someone.

Question raised about Jihad. Some people say, "Is it not the duty of Muslims to make Jihad?" But the purpose of Jihad is not to convert people to Islam. Allah says, (No compulsion in religion) (Al-Baqarah 2:256). The real purpose of Jihad is to remove injustice and aggression. Muslims are allowed to keep good relations with non-Muslims. Allah says, (Allah does not forbid you that you show kindness and deal justly with those who did not fight you in your religion and did not drive you out from your homes…) (Al-Mumtahinah 60:8).
Islam teaches that fighting is only against those who fight. Allah says, (Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loves not transgressors) (Al-Baqarah 2:190).
Islam may tolerate anything, but it teaches zero tolerance for injustice, oppression, and violation of the rights of other human beings. Allah says, (And why should you not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)? Men, women, and children, whose cry is: 'Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from Yourside one who will protect; and raise for us from Yourside one who will help!') (An-Nisaa' 4:75).
Islam teaches tolerance on all levels: individual, groups and states. It should be a political and legal requirement. Tolerance is the mechanism that upholds human rights, pluralism (including cultural pluralism), and the rule of law. The Qur'an says very clearly: (To every People have We appointed rites and ceremonies which they must follow, let them not then dispute with you on the matter, but do invite (them) to your Lord: for you are assuredly on the Right Way. If they do wrangle with you, say, 'God knows best what it is you are doing.' 'God will judge between you on the Day of Judgment concerning the matters in which you differ') (Al-Hajj 21:76-69).
