The puppy's (2 1/2 months, mini schnauzer) not the problem, since he doesn't show any aggressive behavior toward the kitten (around 3 months, mixed breed). Somehow, he scares easily when my kitten "hisses" at him. I just got the puppy 4 days ago while the kitten was born in our attic and we adopted her since we found out of her existence in the attic (since her tail was injured; we let her 2 sisters go with their mom). The pup's not actually doing anything but my kitten's hair rises and she goes into the defensive when the pup goes near her.

Its a natural instinct for cats to fear dogs. This is one thing you will have to let them get over on their own. Eventually the kitten will learn that the dog is not a danger to her. When you see her getting snippy, lift her into a position higher than the pup, so she feels more comfortable and can watch the puppy. Eventually, the puppy's tail will get the kitten to want to play with it. Since they are both young, they will eventually learn to tolerate each other.

I'm no expert, but I had this problem and I found that just having them in a fairly small room together, with the three of you just hanging out for a few hours really helps. They eventually realize that they aren't going to get hurt by the other. At first, they will totally freak out, but give it time. repeat that for a few days, and eventually they won't put up a fuss

I have a cat and a dog...they aren't best buddies, but they get along fine. Just give them time and they will tolerate eachother.

Don't force them on one another, just let them get used to being in the same space together. It is the same for them with any stranger...human or animal. They need time to get used to the idea of someone new.

There's nothing you can do. The pup will learn to leave her alone, and kitty probably won't attack without provocation. Just keep them separated unless you can supervise them and make sure no one comes to any harm. Cats and dogs show behaviour differently, so it's no wonder these two aren't the best of friends.

it will take time--but they are both young--give kitty ca chance--he is getting used to the doggie--it will take 1-2 weeks for the kitty to get well adjusted to the doggie--then they will be friends and you will start to laugh and take pix of the dog and kitty friends.
kitties come around to new friends slowly. and love the kitty and make sure he knows he is still very special to you.

The best thing to do is bring a newly born cat and dog and raise them together cos you can't bring a lion to live with a rabbit just when they are not young. ( I assum )
