You might get to be a pilot. I'm 15 1/2 years old, and I usually take the mainstream airlines (e.g. Delta, JetBlue, US Airways, AA, etc.); I ask to see the cockpit on every flight. However, last April, I was on Air Canada Jazz in a Dash 8-100, and asked, but they said no! I had just gotten off another AC A320, and I got to see it then. Instead, on the way back from Quebec City to Montreal, I asked to say hi to the pilots, and that worked. It worked on the flight from Montreal to LGA (New York), in an Embraer 175, which is AMAZING!
When I grow up, I would like to own an airline, and be a pilot for it as well. You just need to have a lot of money, because pilot's don't make that much. Also, they're away from home a lot.
This might be a sign. Just keep trying!
(By the way, I also like the 757!)

I am a pilot myself, and I understand how exactly you feel. I am 19 now and eversince i was old enough to speak and walk i always asked permission to enter the cockpit and ask questions. That is a great way of getting familiar with the field. So, if this cheers you up let me say that by age 16 you are allowed to solo a small aircraft. Go to your nearest airport and sign up for an introductory flight, wich usualy lasts one hour during which you are allowed to taxi, take off, do a few turns and land all with a flight Instructor. There are also many fields that require pilots, not just airlines, such as hospitals, coast guard, fire fighters, irrigation companies, and news channels just to name a few. So if the idea of bieng stuck in an airline working your butt off scares you, there are always other exiting carreers and opportunities in store for you! Check out these websites...they really helped me when I was your age!

Well I would like to be a pilot too (I am alos 14) but I know people who hate to fly who have seen 757 cockpits but yet I haven't! Only on simulators! So I think as long as you follow your dream ,which I will too, you will be a pilot! Have fun with it and maybe I will see you piloting the plane at the gate adjasent to mine some day! Send me an email if you wanna chat about it any further. I already have much info about schools and other misc. things!

You create your "luck". Your "sponsoring thought" is creative. If you have a strong image in your mind of being a pilot, then the opportunities will come to you. You can then act on those opportunities to realize your dreams.

A friend of mine was consumed by aviation as a child, but never became a pilot because he feared being responsible for passengers.

I enjoyed watching airplanes on TV and looking at them in books, but did not persue aviation as a career until I took my first flying lesson when I was 26 years old. I have been flying now for the past 26 years. I gained confidence with experience.

I know a pilot who is afraid of heights. Figure that one out!

My older brother works for Mesa airlines flying a Bombardier regional jet and to hear him the flying part is good but it's like slave labor with really long hours and low pay. He says he could make more money working as a Maitre d' in an average restaurant. But he's 24 and he'll probably fly for one of the big airlines one day.

Congratulations on having a vision of your future!!I'm an Air Traffic Controller... But I didn't start out dreaming I'd be one. But I have always had goals and they have always led me to new places. Flying can be a great career.

If you live anywhere near an airport you may be able to join the Civil Air Patrol ( and get some free flights!!) Check out the link below...and keep your grades up :)

Go to your local airport and take a discovery flight with an instructor in a small plane. Large airliners are really cool and have a lot of complicated instruments and all, but you have to start simple. You can start taking flying lessons now. There are a lot of steps to go through, a lot of lessons and tests, but if you really want to, you can. Oh, one thing: it costs quite a bit of money. Don't let this discourage you! Take it one step at a time.

Flying can be an amazing way of life, you may want to think about becoming a private pilot then start to build hours. Give yourself time to decide what you want to do with it but always pay attention like you are now, this will give you a great head-start when you start lessions.
