You can buy a home espresso maker for $60 that will do a reasonable job of making espresso and steaming your milk for cappuccino. We've done this for year with very pleasing results. With a little practice you will have a great cup and it really is NOT difficult. We still enjoy buying a cuppa out but for day in and day out it saves a bundle doing it at home. We do find making espresso and cappuccino relaxing and something you can do while a guest sits nearby visiting.

You do not want to use regular coffee for cappuccino or in an espresso maker. Espresso is a unique blend and it is worthwhile to buy a blend from a reputable local shop that you know you like. Also, you do need the right roast and the right grind for espresso - much finer grind that coffee for a coffee maker. If you don't have a high end burr grinder with the right setting, have this done at your local shop as well.

We have been roasting our own coffee at home for a year now and have had great results and have learned a lot in the process.

Enjoy!

Well, you really have to have a decent espresso machine that has enough pressure to make it right.

I owned a coffeehouse, and have an expensive home machine at my place, and I still go out for cappuccino.

Here are some reasons why: Home machines really don't work right unless you want to pay around $500 to $1000.

You have to grind your coffee differently for espresso making, so you can't just dip into jar of coffee you use to make drip coffee.

One part of drinking Cappuccino is that it is a relaxing experience. Making cappuccino at home is not so easy. You have to steam the milk right, etc....If you have company, you can only really make one at a time with the volume/pressure of your home machine, so it could take a loooong time to make several drinks.

Go to your coffeehouse, let them make it, then YOU enjoy it.
