I love drinking my coffee when it's real hot, but everytime I add some cream, it gets cold. Is there anything I can do to keep my coffee hot after adding the cream? I usually have to run to the microwave to warm up my coffee. Using powdered cream kind of make my coffee taste nasty. Is there such thing as "creamer warmer"?

Well, I used to own a coffeehouse. Studies have been done to find out if the coffee gets colder faster if you put the cream into the cup BEFORE or AFTER the coffee is put in. It actually stays hot longer if you put the cream in AFTER.

Don't bother heating the cream. It can cause bacteria to develop faster, and you also would have to find a way to cool it back down fast.

Here are some tips (my coffee HAS to be hot hot hot too!)
1. Put hot water in your mug while the coffee is brewing. Dump it out right before putting the coffee in. This warms your mug. If the mug was cold, your coffee will transfer all its heat to the cold mug. Kind of like pouring coffee over ice.

2. Do what I do....if your coffeemaker doesn't make it hot enough, go ahead and turn off the machine. Pour the coffee into the mug, and zap it in the microwave. Make sure it is really hot before you put your cream in.

My husband drinks his coffee half-cold. Yech. Mine has to be piping hot to taste right. If you use real cream, really really HOT coffee can actually cause the cream to curdle, so don't be surprised. Just keep drinking it.

Oh, yes...and DON'T use that powdered stuff! Yuck!

Go ahead and heat up the cream in the microwave before adding it to the coffee. You only need to warm it for about 15-20 seconds.

Warm up your cream in the microwave for 20-30 seconds to get rid of the chill.
