Thank you for the advice on the fleaes. I washed the kitten with dawn dis detergent, that's what the vet said. I soaked her and scrubbed her well and picked the dead fleas off of her and there were a lot. I dried her and still found two, but they were dead and just on her. Most of the dirt is all gone too. I purchsed a flea and tick powder from Hartz for the basement floor to kill any eggs or fleas down there. Now more importanly is the kitten ready for her flea medicine I got from the vet? Should I wait one more week, since he is only 7 weeks old? It says to wait until they are 8 weeks old. Or should I bath him again and keep searching for fleas? So far I havent spotted any on her white towel. I am washing the old towels and cleaning out her cage. What next?????????? Thanks!

Wait till the eight-week time frame. You are putting a very strong insecticide on the cat so follow instructions to the letter. For this last week I would continue to comb her to pick up any errant fleas still remaining on her.

I am troubled by the "cage in the basement" issue. The flea powder can be dangerous for her if she walks through it and then licks it from her paws. Is the basement carpeted? I would keep her out of there for a few days till it has been thorougly vaccumed. You can buy a flea collar and put it in your vaccum bag. Any fleas or eggs you suck up into it will be poisoned and die.

I have used Advantage on orphan kittens as young as two weeks old, just don't use the whole tube. A few drops is enough for a tiny kitten. Good work on all the cleaning! You may not need to use the Hartz powder- if you do, use it mostly around the edges of the room (fleas go under things like baseboards). One of the best, cheapest, least toxic means of household flea control is daily vacuuming (put the stuff you vacuumed up outside right away to prevent them from escaping). If you put powder down, it will be aerosolized when you vacuum, and you will be breathing it for a while. Good Luck!!

keep with the vet's advice on waiting til 8 weeks. You can give another bath the day before you put on the flea medicine.
I have a total of 5 indoor cats. They all get a bath once every 2 months. Gives me a chance to look them over really well and keeps them very used to being handled. Only the older adult that came to us already grown and set in his ways objects to the bath.

Do what the Vet told you at 8 weeks, you may have to watch see if any more fleas show.

What flea med are you using? If it is frontline or advantage I think she needs to be 9 weeks old.

Go to your vet your answers! Since he is only 7 weeks old, should be careful washing him too often with soap. You don't want to destroy his fur.

I would wait... Also, please don't use Hartz products, they are deadly to your pets!
