Good question. And how did Noah take the tapeworms on the arc? Did he carry them in his intestines? And why, for goodness sakes, didn't he swat the mosquitoes and step on the cockroaches?
Edit - why would I get a thumbs down on this answer? If you are mad at Noah, don't take it out on me. Geesh.

probably to remind humans that they don't live in paradise any more?
Anyway, those characteristics are only negative for humans. If you assume that god created mosquitos, than the mosquito equally well could complain why god gave humans hands as they work much better to kill mosquitos with than e.g. the tail of a horse does. What is a negative characteristic to you is a positve characteristic to the mosquito and vice versa.
Not that the bible isn't very anthropocentric, but the world does not really revolve around humans. Evolution did not "aim" to generate humans either.

The question should be, "Why did God make us?" Everything else in this
world is part of the balance of Nature. Even bacteria and diseases help
to maintain the balance, so one form of life cannot dominate all the others.
My understanding is that God made this world to be like a vacation spot
for His spirits. And we got stuck here, because we hung around too long, and
our spirits became heavier due to the forces that make this material world.
So called mythological creatures really existed, being born from
our spiritual power, when we lived inside animals to enjoy the physical
pleasures, just like we live in a human body now. That's because God eventually made a human form for our spirits to live in.
The book of Hebrews says that the ones who were faithful, remained so,
because, "They had seen the true Kingdom, in the spirit world, from far
off, (on this world). And confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on this world!" Hebrews 11.

Yes, but there is nothing to suggest that mutations did not occur after the Fall of Man, when sin entered the world. Prior to the fall, there may have been no harm in any of these creatures. They would have been merely part of the ecosystem of the world. Sin threw a monkey-wrench into more than just people, it damaged the planet as well (since Adam and Eve were the respective king and queen of creation).

well...as I believe in Islam...God created the little things, Not only Rats, fleas, mosquitoes but as u know there are much smaller creatures living....why,,,because God want u to show how he can do what he wants,,,,He created a big things, like THE WORLD,,,and little things like worms....to only make u think and know that God can do what he wants...
Everything God does, there is big wisdom behind it.
God says in the quran:
"Allah disdains not to use the similitude of things, lowest as well as highest. Those who believe know that it is truth from their Lord; but those who reject Faith say: "What means Allah by this similitude?" By it He causes many to stray, and many He leads into the right path; but He causes not to stray, except those who forsake (the path),--"(Quran: 2:26)

I really believe that their affect in humans and other animals that may be considered negative, weren't the affect that they had before sin entered into man. Adam for instance, was supposed to die.
The promise that he was to die didn't come until he did what God told him not to do.
So I believe that sin didn't affect Adam and Eve, and those that were their offspring ONLY on the spiritual level, but also on 'material' level.
In saying so, there would be no disease, death, and even harm of any kind, until sin entered into the race of man.

IT IS WRITTEN.....
(Isaiah 55:6-to-11) Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
(Isa 55:7) Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
(Isa 55:8) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
(Isa 55:9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
(Isa 55:10) For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
(Isa 55:11) So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
ALSO.......
IF you will answer the Questions that GOD asked Job in Chapters 38-to-40, THEN YOU WILL HAVE YOUR ANSWERS!
Thanks, RR

"Some things are made just for the pleasure of God.' He wanted to create misquitos (i hate misquitos with every cell in my living body, bytheway) just because it pleased him. and sister, God can do whatever he wants!
