I think I understand your question and mainly your frustration. Unlike the "alyssamic" who seems to want to attack your statement instead of explaining her view vs yours, I'll try and take a shot at it. I think it has a lot to do with people making the statement "Thank God" for what we perceive to be the good things that happen in our lives. We never equate bad with God, only good. The bible, for all that it reveils is still nothing more than a metaphoric explanation written by man, not God of what might have happened 2,000 years ago.

If we look at the world and the history of mankind it's very difficult to believe in God. I agree in principle with what you are saying. And yes, according to the bible, God said He was a selfish God and wanted all to know that all good came from Him. He reveils that statement in many different ways throughout the bible. Again, the bible was written by man from many different authors more than 350 years after the fact. It only makes sense that we question why so many things have gone wrong. It's a fair question but unfortunately we will never know the answer in this life time.

I don't think God wants credit for anything. It was a group of humans that credited the persona God is today. I believe that if there is a God, then he is everything. The good and the bad. If he is the sole creator, he created everything because he IS everything. God as great as God is, is more than just good, God is also greater than bad. Free will is a position given to man, and the choices that exists are also created by God. If god was plainly just perfect and good, I think humans have underestimated the power of God.

I think he does in the Bible but can't remember the verses. Anyhoo he is not responsible for all the bad things in the world because he made it perfect and Adam and Eve messed that up for all of us. The world is in bad shape because we have free will meaning we can do whatever we want good or bad. All of mankind's bad choices have made things the way they are today.

I think our choices even affects nature and causes natural disasters. Not even God will violate our free will. If he did we would all be like robots not ever being able to make a bad choice on our own.

I think your question is valid. I've read these remarks and can only say that some of these jerks need to pull their heads out of the sand and take a long look around. I agree that if God created everything, which means us, and is the "All Mighty". than he must control everything. I noticed a couple of these idiots took shots at you and that's crazy. If I were them I'd be asking the same question too. One thing is for sure, the world in one giant mess.

There is a belief that I have never been able to understand but it is very powerful to some people. God only does good things. He never does bad things. If you see something that looks bad then either a) you don't understand it's true purpose, or b) it is human's fault - not god's.

I've never figured this one out but some people live and die by it.

I take credit for many good things that happen in my children's lives but I do not feel the need to take responsibility for the wrong they do once they are old enough to know better and simply choose to make stupid mistakes. Why would you expect God to be any diffferent?

Let me ask you this question;
Would you take responsibility for bad things that you didn't do?
Things like the flood etc were directly because of man's evil ways. God didn't make man do evil things, they choose to do them inspite of knowing better.

Here we go bashing god for all the bad things that the devil has done. I think that my god does take the blame for the good and the bad. But I think people could help him by living more closely to his teachings and reading the bible everyday. Our world is in a bad shape, and you know the saying : one person can make a difference, and i really do think this is true.

Because God didn't make the choices that allowed evil into the world. . .that was (and still is) the human race's decision.

We're the ones who destroy each other and cause the world's misery, not God.

WE cause the bad. It's free will gone crazy. The world would be a better place if people got a grip.
