I was listening to 2 12" sony xplods at best buy and they sound just as good or better than all the other subs which included rockford fosgate and alpines. I was just wondering if it would be worth buying the sonys over the other subs because they sound great and there cheaper.

sony xplods are great subs if your not looking for anything to serious. they have a pretty good bang for there buck.

when people say that they suck and never to buy them, they're usually just blowin smoke up your azz. they probably have never personally herd them. or they're comparing them to a high power sub with ofcourse they wont compete.

if you like the sound. but arent lookin to blow to much money. you should go with the 2 12"s. but dont get one. 2 is perfect

Almost everyone says Sony subs suck, and i agree, but they are cheap, and for a little while sound good. Being built cheap they can tend to have their voice coils melt easier, because they use metal that gains heat quickly. Rockford used to be the top of the line in car audio. I seen many people at car audio competitions with them back in the day but after they sold out to best buy, they went down the drain. The alpine subs are great, and will last you a long time. Spend the lil extra on a type r alpine sub and enjoy it for a long time. Also check into Memphis pr subs. They get some slack for being lower end but i compete with them and win.

I think the Sony subs are really good, but as with any sub, they need to be installed properly to sound good. My wife has a single Sony 12 in her car and it sounds great. I've been overpowering it for several years now, and it's lasted longer and sounded better than 2 or 3 previous subs before it. The Type R Alpine sub is a really good sub too, if you don't mind spending 2 or 3 times as much, needing a larger amplifer to run it, and only getting a small improvement soundwise.

No they are not good. My friend had 2 12"s and they didnt have good lows at all. I would reccomend the type R sub from alpine. I've had it for 3 years and it still plays as good as i bought it. Sony is known for excellent speakers but poor subwoofers

I never had a set of Sony explodes cause i dont think that any sub at Buestbuy is good at all their kinda all generic to me i always go with Kicker Solo Baric L7 they have been really good to me they are good for hitting the highs and lows you can save a little bit of money by getting the 2004 model which is just as good as the 2006

i had an old 10" xplod about 4 years ago and it worked perfectly well. if you want a really good cheap sub you should get a low end infinity. you can never go wrong there.

They`ll do the job!
But i would never say there just as good as the other brands you speak of!
Just rock those sony`s in your car for abit and then you`ll see what the difference is between those sony`s and the others!
