You may have some depression going on...you might want to consult a professional for a diagnosis. Drinking is a temporary band-aid and you said yourself that's no solution. Perhaps you are physically sensitive to alcohol and it is bringing you down further. I'd encourage you to lay off the booze for a while.

Another reason may be that your spiritual practice is not feeding your needs. Human beings are spiritual creatures, and the spirit needs attention and maintenance. Daily inspirational reading, attending weekly services or a regular appointment with nature can help feed your spirit. For me, it's morning coffee and a moment of silent gratitude.

Be good to yourself. And if you don't start feeling better on your own, do seek help---you deserve to be happy.

It is vital that you KNOW that you are loved! Without this KNOWLEDGE your feeling of self worth plummets. Then too you must love your self and feel that what you have done in life is of value to you and to others. If you suspect that all you have done has been just a sham, that you have been "faking it" just to keep up an appearance of what society regards as worthy you will not value yourself and you will be depressed. You have to find yourself!

You may be just bored. It sounds as though your life so far has been just GET no GIVE. Give of yourself!

Religion provides some answers as to why we exist to many and it may to you. The trouble here is that there are so many of them you could spend a life time just seeking the right one for you.

Try these and the suggestions of others here. Good luck and God Bless.

It could be because now that you have everything you ever wanted, you have nothing to work for... maybe try helping other people now. It seems to give some people a sense of accomplishment and, well, it makes you feel good. It may be what you feel is missing.
