Whenever I drink, my face becomes hot and puffy and my ears start to throb. Any suggestions on how I can increase my tolerance for it? I want to enjoy drinking!

I cannot believe this, I have had these same symptoms since the first time I tried canadian club whiskey. You are the only other person in the world that I have heard from that said the same thing. Now I am not allergic to everythingI drink just some things like whiskey, fruit puckers, whine coolers and some other things. I have been driking for a while but have not built a tollerance. The first time this happened to me in public I was at my christmas party at work. My face got hot red blotchy, puffy, itchy and man was I embarrased. But I finally did figure some things I was not allergic to such as Vodka, and rum which may I remind you are very good starters for mixed drinks. I don't drink beer and have not noticed a reaction to it but I honestly don't drink it so I don't know. Well, when it comes down to it I try to stay away from the things I know I am allergic to. But if it does happen to happen. Who cares, it doesn't hurt and it doesn't last more than a half hour in total. So drink with friends and laugh about it yourself. Unless my any means you have a more serious reaction than I do. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I have the same problem but it doesn't happen when I drink homemade wine so I have narrowed it down to something that is added to commercial alcohol. Homemade wine is very easy to make, it just takes some time and like I said, no reaction! There are recipes all around out there...worth a try in my book as it is nice to have a drink now and then.

I don't know how old you are but my suggestion is that you gradually quit alcohol..ok. Otherwise I am not sure but you may have some serious health problems later on. Try to increase the tolerance of not having to consume alcohol. Try and maybe you will succeed. You will just need some willpower, nothing else. Its entirely upto you. Good Luck.
