They're always shorter and cut off when I print them. What can I do?

You have to resize them, dont just accept the printer default, change the settings of the printer or change the size of the picture.

How are you printing them? Some programs will format your photo to fit a selected / predetermined size. For instance the Windows print photo wizard will only allow you to print objects in predetermined sizes of 8x10 or 6x4 etc etc. Very few cameras shoot that size so it will crop off the edges to fit.

Honestly every different printing application is going to do something different. So you'll need to find one program to use for printing. I print directly from Photoshop CS. But it's a very expensive program. You get cheaper programs such as Photoshop elements that will allow you to size your photo accordingly and allow you to print any size as long as it fits into your printers margins.

These are not the only programs you can use. Go to Download.com and search for Free Photo editing or printing software that will allow you to resize and print. You're just going to have to play around with them to see which one is right for you.

She's right.....if it's getting cut off it's because your image size is bigger than the printer default. You'll have to make sure your image is the exact size as what the printer puts out.

What I always do is put a white bleed border around the pictures so that if anything gets cut off it'll be that border. You can do this by changing your images size to slightly smaller than the printer default....(example 4x6 would become 3.5x5.5) and then change canvas size to 4x6. This will put a border around the image to protect it from getting cut....plus I think it looks pretty cool too ;)
