get a universal dvd player so that it will accept all country codes and if you are referring to burned dvds, make sure that you are burning them correctly and that your dvd player can support dvd R+ or dvd RW

I am assuming you are talking about burned DVD movies. If that is the case, the best method is to use name-brand DVD-R's. Memorex, Sony and Imation are my favorites. Most DVD players read DVD-R's, but struggle with DVD+R.

Older or cheap DVD players may struggle to read any non-commercial DVD. So, it is really impossible to make all movies work with all DVD players because you are at the disadvantage of manufacturers building DVD players out of spec. But, you can shoot for most.

The most common format that all DVD players read is DVD-R.
