Well, I feel it's embarrassing a bit! Am I too old to ask such a Q ? :)
Details (!) :
-am 23, she's 25. don't know each other very well.. saw her a couple of times in students gathering (post graduate).
-she's nice, and I would like to get closer.
-I am a foreigner and she's a resident! ( DIFFERENT cultures )
-we talked a bit but very general. I felt she didn't care much to talk.
-I noticed that's she's kind of serious in her life (i.e. professional style)
-I could know from her friend that's she has no bf ( by an indirect question )
I feel so embarrassed to take any action, if I fail, It would be painful and embarrassing for the next 3 years( course duration!)
I feel uncomfortable! Maybe I don't have the enough self-confidence to take a step, any suggestions , seriously please! :)

The embarrassment in your situation is a mixed blessing. That helped you to stop;not being hasty. Now take a little bit of time to know, and then proceed.Again, for good, you have 3 years together. The difference in culture is a significant factor, but the persons are more important. It appears you dislike being a serious professional;and, she looks to be so.This can be very important in the adjustment question. You will know soon how that can possibly be like.

Muster up the courage to have a conversation with her. Start with hello (and a bright smile) and tell her that you think she's someone that you wouldn't mind getting to know a little bit better. Keep the conversation short and upbeat. End it by exchanging numbers and suggesting that you two catch the latest picture at the IMAX theater.
If she's interested, you'll pick up on it instantly.
Good luck.

Ok these girls on here saying you are too old for her are CRAZY!!!! you are only 2 yrs older than her. Im 5 yrs older than my hubby....AGE DOENST MATTER IF YOU ARE BOTH OLD ENOUGH,,THATS JUST CRAZY PEOPLE!!!
I think you should get to know her more by chatting with her when you both have the chance. You will know more after a while of talking if shes interested in you or not. Dont push things though,,,let them happen on thier own.

Invite her for a cup of tea/coffee - a neutral activity to just talk and know each other more. You will know how to move forward. It ia a natural process and I believe people often do not trust in "the process".
As for age - not an issue.
Good luck to you

If she is so serious with her studies she probably hasn't got time to date or have a bf. The fact that she doesn't want to talk much should give you some indication that she's not interested.

A gentleman is a man who can play the accordion but doesn't.
ask her for a date
remember
When a man goes on a date he wonders if he is going to get lucky. A woman already knows.

Maybe you could join their group or have a party that includes her. That would give you more chances to get to know each other better.
