I am a muslim and there are many misconceptions regarding "holy war" which need to be sort out?

The quran dosent say fight for hate but it says fight for the truth. Osama bin laden has most definiteley got the wrong idea of the "holy war" or jihad. 1400 years ago muslims were to fight for their religion for the truth that their is now a new religion which god has unfolded rocks were thrown at the people who had devoted themselves as muslims and in order to shout out this new religion they had to fight they were hard times. Now i personally hate racists and facists. But would appreciate any views from any religion if you want to know more about the four main religions i would ask to goto google video and type DR. Zakir Naik this man is a genius and a revolutionary scholar he has learnt and revised all the books of religion he is amazing imagine knowing by heart all the books of religion and then sharing them infront of public views. he also answers questions from the public

although he speaks about islam there are videos of himspeaking about similarities in islam and hinduism if you disagree with what he says thats up to you i believe he is very talented

i am glad you spoken out against this. A Jihad is only to be used when a war specifically against Islam is initiated. I have read the quran and try to understand people of different faiths. It is only through education can we erase the stereotype that many in this world hold. You reference DR Naik and I will probably go see what he has to say, but You must do your own research. I challenged you to read the Holy books for yourself as i have.

Rote memory is a cool thing I suppose but if one has need to revise what is supposed to be truth, then was is truth to begin with? I think it is great that you would wish to dispel any myths regarding Jihad, however I would like to point out that no war is holy. That is a man made concept. War is about money, power, greed , and domination. It had it's place when the world was being founded and set up I suppose but in today's world there is no rationale for it other than those stated previously. End of statement. To delude yourself into thinking war is anything other than abhorrent is to bury your head in the sand to ignore man's inherent need to have dominion over each other along with the control of all of the resources he can lay hands on.

Osama, and other terrorists, are using the term "Jihad" in order to justify what they are doing.
Unfortunately, many other people that are not Muslim may not understand this, and that term has become a bad word. But don't worry, there's at least one non-Muslim out here that understands the true meaning of the word.

OBL may have the wrong idea but ifhe can get 10 % of muslims to follow him we are talking about a lot of muslims wanting us dead. This holy war is being brought on by radical muslims why don't you guys try to denounce OBL more than a little blip on the 10 page of the newpaper. holy war - you say there are many misconceptions in the mind of others. you got it entirely wrong. its the muslims who got it wrong. during the time of muhammad they were the same as they are today. there is no progress in thier approach. they killed then in the name of god, they are killing in the name of god today. so where is the misconception. killing innocents is continuing for 1400 years, and you say there is a misconception. its your misconception about your religion that it is peaceful. i think islam is the greatest joke.

now for zakir naik. i'm not convinced about this man. he just repeats things. so far nobody asked him question of relevance. also he avoids answering relevant questions in writing. there is a person who was waiting for him to debate for a long time, in writing, you can visit the site faithfreedom.org so far zakir naik did not reply, because he fears his game is about to be finished. why he did not answer my question in writing. he is like a parrot, just a repeater, reciter. by the way quran also means "recite". no wonder he just recites lines from all scriptures and claims in the end that islam is the only religion other religions are fake. its all self claims. nobody had so far considered him worthwhile. i have lots of questions, dont know whether he will ever dare to answer them.

funny thing i heard him say once is that islam was first religion and quran was the first book. what he does not know is about himself. i have a question, how many muslims have realised goodhood, divinity. even a dead rock will say NONE. becaue if any muslims has realised truth, god, divinity then such a crap called quran would not be considered holy book. no intelligent being will ever read it.

so i request your to first clear your misconception - why muslims or followers of mohammed did not mend thier crude, cruel, uncivilized ways even after 1400 years?

i know you will not like my answer, but i had to say this because your question itself is unintelligent. those who did not ever experience anything only can follow a religion like islam. its muslims who are the real danger to world. if muslims think allah will come on judgement day, then it is a big joke, again. i bet that this world will outlive the days mentioned by allah and quran. there is another 4,27,000 years for the current age to pass through. after that a major catacylsmic change will occur. then mankind will be catapuled to a higher level of godhood. it is impossible for a religion like islam to understand these things.

I think that the quran is largely misunderstood by people of other faiths. That is due largely to the fact that Osama Bin Laden and his ilk have bastardized it.

I do not believe that your statement is true. The only listing that saw was about islam, and nothing about any other religion. And so what if he makes your religion planer to you, it is still paganism, just like the majority of the religions of this world, including most of the 'christian' ones.
