Product diversification is simply a fancy way of saying that there are several different products available. As with most things, the more diverse, the better. In terms of companies, would you like to have one product from one manufacturer, or thousands of products from hundreds of manufacturers? Having one product, you are at extreme risk of going out of business from a simply rumor that your product is unhealthy, dangerous, unreliable, etc. Even it isn't true, if that is your only product, you will very quickly be out of business. If on the other hand you have a very large line of products, you can have one get hammered, and simply dump it, and not really have even a bump in your business. Which would you rather deal with.
