For the past few months, I have found myself to be very lethargic and no longer have the energy to do simple, everyday chores. I have ALWAYS been full of energy and tried to keep a healthy lifestyle, especially playing basketball and weightlifting. Now I can't do either because I am always "too tired". I had a bout with depression a few months back, where there were times it was difficult for me to do anything but stay in bed, but I do not think that has anything to do with how I feel physically now. In the past 2 months, I have put on about 20 lbs. because my metabolism has come to a standstill from lack of exercise. I used to come home from work and lift, play some ball or maybe go for a walk, but now I am so tired by the time I get back, I can't do much of anything. It's making me feel lazy, plus making me not feel good about my overall appearance. Could there actually be something physically wrong?

One of the things that you should have checked is your heart. Thats one of the symtoms of a heart problem. It usually makes you very tired. Also depression makes you tired. You might still have depression. So you should tell your doctor whats going on with you so you can be checked out,,,and make sure you request them to give you a scan of your chest.

You should visit a doctor very soon. Make an appointment today. Yes, there could be something medically wrong (any number of things: diabetes, thyroid problems, anemia, etc.), or you could be having another bout of depression. You don't always recognize these bouts when they come on. One episode can be different from the next and you don't have to have anything wrong in your life to experience depression since it is a brain illness...which is physical, just in the brain. Don't dispair, but do get some medical help and treatment.

I have a different sort of angle for you to examine.....
Are you in a new relationship with someone who suddenly feels better when they are around you?
Have you separated from someone that made you feel energized when you were around them?
If you said yes to either then you might be a victim of a psychic vampire!.
Don't laugh! they are worse than a 'real' vampire because they can come and go as they please after 'feeding' on your life energy and leaving you drained and in bed to recover! and when you do start feeling better they feed again! These people are always hungry and needing fed, most don't even know that they are doing it, all they know is that when they're around you they are 'happier' or more full of ideas and lust for life.
The same applies to you...if you were unknowingly feeding and are not able to now that might explain the onset of sudden tiredness.
This is a little unusual I know but trust me it happens all the time and if you aren't aware of it and can't find a medical reason for an illness then it's time to examine the metaphysical.

Yes, there could be something wrong... Go for a check up and have a test for a virus called Epstein Barr... it is referred to as "Mono" . Have him give you a complete physical and see what is happening... You need to get back on a good diet of fresh fruits and veggies and get off sugar and starch of any kind...even before you see the doc...
Push yourself to exercise anyhow, even if it is a walk around the block...
The fact that you are sleeping and tired might mean your depression is back. The doc can help you here again and get you on some meds.... Make your appt before you put on too much weight and can't do anything.....

Perhaps you are still suffering from depression. I would suggest you first go to your physician to get checked out. It could be that you may need some medication to help you through a difficult time. Not eating right can also contribute to depression. Staying busy and getting some exercise can help eliminate depression. If your physician gives you a clean bill of health, you may want to find someone with whom you can talk. Another thing you can try is to get a notebook and start writing your thoughts down. If you have a lot of negative thoughts, it can help to get everything down on paper. It seem to take the thoughts away.

Your today is retaliating from the lack of excercise you once provided it. Also, consider your eating habits. What have you changed in your diet. Certain foods will make you feel sluggish and offer virtually no energy. You need to beef up your intake (of healthy foods) to get your metabolism back up, and then you might feel like mustering up some energy to work out again. Try walking for 30 minutes a day, build yourself back up again, and then push on from there. There's nothing physically wrong with you, at least it doesn't sound like there is. You just need to apply yourself to an excercise regimen again, like the one you once had. You may want to consider getting a check up with your doctor, just to rule out any underlying health issues.

I also had this issue, and a simple blood test found that my thyroid was not working. Causing depression, lack of energy, and I also am normally a very energetic individual. Go to your doctor and have them do some simple blood tests. There are many things associated with thyroid disorder, lack of energy, body aches, unable to keep warm, and the list goes on. A simple medication taken daily has given me my life back. Also check on Web MD and look up thyroid and you will get a complete list of signs and symptoms. Good luck and God bless****

there could be a lack of something in your system and it may also be a slight reoccurance of depression
Also at this time of year the sun is not as available to us which makes us sluggish. But I believe that the best option would be to go and speak to a Doctor about it
there may be some other reason for all of this.
Suggestions are just that suggestions but tests and a check up are the best option in my opinion.
Don't place yourself in jeapardy with ideas from other people Go and get checked for it could be something serious.
Sunshine thoughts.

hopefully not..why don't you try to get back to the point of lifting weights, get a few pounds off & see if you feel better.
no matter how tired you are, do some stretches get the blood flowing..give it 2 weeks, if you don't have any progress , see your doctor, the holidays do cause depression for those that never are, so since you are familiar with the signs, don't let it creep back in at this most sensitivetime of year..
hang in there...

See your family doctor who can suggest reasons. This is not normal to feel this way. Depression could be setting in again. The doctor can order lab tests to check for certain conditions that can cause fatigue, such as anemia (low iron), etc.
Good Luck!!
