It depends on the area in which you live and what types of hay are available to you.
We feed grass hay here in the Midwest.
Many people feed a mix of alpha and grass hay.
I feed free choice grass hay and then Ultimum feed with s few suppliments depending on the individual horses needs.

most race horses are on either timothy or bermuda, alfalfa is the most popular hay you will probably ever hear about but it makes a race horse to hot they get supplememts anyways
