The military offers the GI Bill which will pay you $400 a month while you are going to school, or student loan repayment. Both are good options for getting an education, however, do not join the military just for the education benefits.
Realize that if you join now, you will most likely be serving in Iraq with the possibility of being injured or killed. And you will probably not be able to finish college until you are discharged from the military.
If you finish college first with student loans and then join the military, they will repay your loans, But who knows what the situation will be then.
Another option is to apply for a ROTC scholarship. You will have to serve for a number of years when you finish college, but they will pay for your college for you, and I think, give you a stipend for spending money while you are in college. With this option, when you enter the military you will be an officer. This means higher pay and usually safer duties.

You will not earn a degree simply for serving. You can get the GI bill which will help pay for college or if you are graduating high school and you are good enough to get accepted to a military academy like West Point or Annapolis, then you earn a degree and serve as an officer.

There are some MOS's(jobs) that you can get college credits for some schools and trainings you attend. You have to enroll at a college that will accept them though. They are usually no where near getting a degree though probably 5-15 hours. Like other people had said they do have colleges on base and tuition assistance and the GI Bill.

there are several career fields, that if you qualify for and complete the training in, is equivalent to an Associates degree by CLEPing out the courses.
Thre is also Tuition assistance availble while on Active duty..up to 18 credit hours a year, I think it is now. Plus there is the GI Bill.. $100/month for 12 months will net you close to $30,000 for educational expenses once you leave Active duty.
HOWEVER this should not be the sole reason you join. Join because you want to serve your country, not because you can't affrod to go to school. expect to be deployed, no matter which branch you choose and which career field you go into. if you are not willing to risk life and limb for your country, then don't enlist.

It used to be possible, but now days most military people spend so much time going back and forth to the Middle East that they have to drop out of college courses.

Alot of military bases also offer college programs right on base. The navy even has college courses while on ship at sea. check the Air Force for such programs. I myself was in the Marine Corps and was constantly in hostile fire zones, so not much college time there.

Its called the GI Bill, I myself have used it, but I don't know the exact benefits nowadays on what they have changed. It used to be Where you had so long to go to school after your got out of the Armed Forces to go to school, and they would pay you a certain amount to go. Plus other benefits.
