because chickpea is much more fun to say than Garbanzo bean(???)

The name "chickpea" was derived eventually from the Latin name cicer - Cicer is a genus of the legume family Fabaceae. Its native distribution is across the Middle East and Asia , and in French - chiche. "Garbanzo" is from the Spanish language.
