One can rise out of poverty, but it will not be easy to do. One must look at why the families are poor and how to overcome that obstacle

IT is a NORM !!

Most people become what they were raised within. Only a few strong headed ones make a change by seeing what they lived in to be not good enough for them. Only the individual can change the cycle.

Many place blame on society, medical problems or family problems, when in all actuality it is themselves that keep them where they are. It is really sad how many organizations give give and then give more to the poor, because it only ensures them staying right there for that hand out rather than being disgusted with the way they live and decide for them self to make a change.

Life is full of choices ! We all wake up each day with choices to make about our own money. The poor simply chooses to NOT have any and spend what they do get. Period !

Yes, and the example is all around you, this is the 3rd generation in my Country, Canada, that is living on Welfare. That means, From l mother, to her off springs, to her off springs! Meaning that the generation on Welfare now, with children under 5 years, will 100% end up living on Welfare. The Reasons: Welfare breed Welfare. Without the advantages, form a better standard of life, these children don't stand a chance. Most of them won't even finish high school. There parents, once the monthly allowance ends at 16 -yrs old, will send this young person out to the low paying, minimal wage jobs, starting the cycle again. So now do you see Why it is Important to get an Education. The One way to get out of Poverty! and get it when your young and don't abuse your body or brain as an escape, if you are living in a similar situation. That is just plain stupidity, and your not that, or you won't have sent this great question out! Now that I have informed you of the facts, Help the Poor of your Country. Its easy, just "give back" volunteer - it feels great, and it makes you Really appreciate what you have. Good Luck, hope you liked my answer, Merry Christmas...

Yes but not always. Look at the formerly very poor people who have made it very big in life because they had a dream that they stuck with or someone kind helped them along the way. Examples- Dr Martin Luther King, Dr.Ben Carson, Whoopie Goldberg, Operah Winfrey, JK Rowling, etc, etc. It can and has been done many times where the situations were reversed but unfortunately not as often as we'd like to see especially in this country where people can at least try and improve their lives a bit.

If you're born into a poor family, the way our economy is right now it's possible to get out of poverty but it'll be extremely hard. Essentially your starting at the bottom, you and I know that there's no easy way to get to the top.

good luck :)

Usually. You learn most of what you know at the dinner table.

If you parents are working class you learn that to be a man you work hard and put food on the table.

If your parents are middle class you learn to go to college and get a career.

If your parents are on welfare you learn how to work the system.

If your parents are addicts you learn how to be a mess.

Maybe 10 or 20 percent of people switch classes but it isn't as common as the propaganda suggests.

Well, of course you grow up a certain way and in a certain type of neighborhood but that doesn't mean you are destined to stay there. It is up to each individual to make their own way in life and I believe that with hard work and commitment anyone can change their circumstances and their way of life.
