I think you are on to something...
I saw a saying that described me a lot, and I can't remember the exact quote but here it is:
"I am so afraid of failure that I will do what I can to protect myself from it by not even trying. "
(or something like that)
I have graduated college, twice, but I am afraid of failure, a reason I am still in an unhappy marriage. .... afraid that I will fail as a single mother.

Sorry, but that questions is very naive. Listen to yourself!
First of all...yes, finishing school is important, getting a degree is relative. Getting married is by choice or not by choice. Finding someone is not gauranteed.
There are many rich successful people who never went to College. Some of the most happy people are unmarried. Are you kidding me?
I hope you are not measuring your happiness and joy by those milestones because you are in for a big disappointment. Those "THINGS" don't bring you true happiness. Those "THINGS" don't bring you joy. Those "THINGS" don't determine whether you are successful or not. How about being happy with you...the person within. Being content in every situation. "You" bring "you" joy, not things! How about having a relationship with your Creator, God and His son, Jesus. How about treated people with kindness and decency? That spells success in my eyes.
Maybe people who eagerly persue those things and those things only are the ones who are scared of something.
I hope you learn the true meaning of happiness and success...it's within! : )

No I just think some people are just the kind of people that dont set goals because you'd rather just ride the waves and go along with life but still guide yourself. Goals are good for some ppl but i think they just stress you out more.

Mabey, are you asking for yourself, or someone else? If for yourself, try the "trial-&-error" technique. If for someone else, don't try to be their therapist just let them know that you believe in them, that they can succede and that they have your support.
