I need to know: what if I install wndows again from my xp cd, and change the product key to a windows vista key, will it change my xp to vista? if not, where can I get winvista beta 2 instead of microsoft, and not as a torrent.

Product keys are specific to a certain program.
For example, the product keys for Win 98 are incompatible with the XP product keys.

Unless you're developing Vista-specific programs, you shouldn't bother with Vista until it becomes stable. (Probably 2 years after Vista is released).

Frankly it sounds like you are sadly confused about what you want. Why would you trade a stable OS like xp that's been tested and patched a lot for a new OTS untested os like Vista???

Don't you really want to wait until Vista has proven its reliability???

PS Changing the product key will just render your xp unusable...
