Just spend time with the children.
Too many children are allowed to play with computers all day long, and are not spending quality time with their families.
Get involved in their life and their schoolwork, and just be a figure they know that they can rely on when it comes to asking for help.

By no means am I saying that all parents don't get involved with their children, I just mean that some fall into this category.

Sure do, I'm a firm advocate for sending all children from birth to the houses of people from which I have numerous
phone calls exalting the virtuosity of my kids!!!!! The people they speak of are alien to my day-to-day life. Should you get any good stuff, SHARING, has a parental ring!!

No rewards and punnishments. That will give them the wrong message. You want them to be confident and driven from within, not from with-out.

Go to Mothering.com . There is a dad's board there too. GREAT place.
