Mormons will tell you that there's only one source of accurate info on Mormonism, and that is the Mormon Church itself... or a source sanctioned by the church.

Now, if Exxon told you that the only place you could get legitimate info on Exxon Oil was from...Exxon Oil... and that all other sources of information should be entirely ignored, what would you say to that? You'd probably say that Exxon was trying to stack the deck and that they were attempting to hide something.

Well, that is certainly the case with the Mormon Church.

So, as was suggested earlier... if you really want to get some perspective on Mormonism, go to a variety of sources and use your own good judgement as to what is and is not true, and the degrees to which the range of assertions are true, on all sides.

If you talk to a Mormon missionary, the emphasis is on those aspects of Mormonism that have the most in common with mainstream Christianity... in terms of theology. They tell you a little bit about their version of the Church's beginnings... and they ask you to read the Book of Mormon... and then to pray for some emotional affirmation from God as to the Book's validity.

What they don't ask you to do is to apply reason, to check out the Church's founder, Joseph Smith, to look at the Church's historical practise of "Blood atonement", it's policy of racial discrimination (blacks were not allowed to be priests while virtually every white adult male in the church was recognised as a member of the priesthood) that lasted until the early seventies. They don't tell you about the fact that everyone in the church has to wear special underwear.... they don't tell you about the secret rituals (like learning the special handshakes that will be required to get into the third level of Heaven)... they don't tell you about Smith's connection to Masonry (which is where most of the rituals were derived)... they don't tell you a great many things... that are only revealed little by little after they've gained your trust, and after you've become a member of the church.

So, my advise to anyone, is to investigate the Church thoroughly before even considering membership. Investigate it from a substantial selection of Mormon and Non-Mormon sources.

Here are two. One is the official site of the Mormon Church, the other is a site created by Jerald (now deceased) and Sandra Tanner, a man and wife who have dedicated their lives to revealing Mormon beliefs and practises. Both were members of the church at one time, and Sandra Tanner is the great-great grand-daughter of Brigham Young... one of the Church's first 'Prophets'.

You need to make your own choice about Mormonism. It's clear enough how I see Mormonism, but you need to arrive at your own conclusions.

Mormons believe that we are all part of God's family.

From the Bible we learn that Satan was once in heaven, where God dwells, but was cast out. Surely it is conceivable that Satan could have been a part of God's family in heaven before he was cast out.

Revelation states this:
"And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." (Revelation 12:9)

Isaiah described satan this way: "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!" (Isaiah 14:12)

I never understood the problem with this. God is the spiritual parent to us all, including the Son of the Morning, Lucifer or Satan (as we read in the Bible). Satan was cast to the earth. Anyway, I won't go into it much, but with the proper study, from the right sources, this is very logical.

No, of course not. Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) believe in God and Jesus like all Christians. But they also believe in a female Divinity.

They believe the teachings of a dreamer, smith something...and claimed Jesus appear to him in a vision. I remember a story...

My friend was visiting a person for bible study, they are both black. When my friend arrive there was a mormon visiting the other person....they greeted each other and the mormon learned that my friend is a JW. He then told him, thats nice, i guess we can change opinion then, if you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask. My friend obliged and asked: Is it true that you do not allow black people to have high positions in your church?

The mormon was silent...he then told the other person he would come back soon. =) racism? dunno....

You just opened up a keg of worms you don't want to know...
I've asked about Mormons on here several times...about their inconsistency in doctrine, about their religious rites and their treatment and definition of people of color...I have read the books and spoke with people and still amazed at the blind following of self-serving doctrine.

Oh, by the way, one text says Jesus was one who got his own planet to rule because he was righteous in another life...this is his connection to God.

I invite you to do your own research and not listen to them or to me...this is how you will figure it out for yourself.

We believe God the Father created ALL of our spirits, literally making him our Heavenly Father...so that of course means he created Satan's spirit and Christ's also...though Satan and his followers who were cast out will never have a body. So in that sense, they are not "brothers" physically, spiritually yes though. That means Christ is our brother too though, and Satan is our "spirit" brother.

Yes...we do. But we believe that we are all brothers and sisters. If you want to know more...go to www.mormon.org. There should be some answers to your questions there. Mormons really are not bad people!

I don't know!!!!
Jesus said ," And so I tell you Peter, you are rock, and on this rock
foundation, I will build my church, and not even death will ever be able to overcome it. I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven; what you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and what you permit on earth on earth will be permitted in heaven."

With this St. Peter became the first head of the church.
May God Bless you all!!!!
