I think you are talking about monotheism - which means there is one God and only one God... For a Christian, I Believe in Jesus Christ who Died on the cross, I believe that the Holy Spirit is living in mean and is my counsellor, I believe in God the Father... And I believe that they are 3 in 1...
This is so important because God is very clear about us not worshipping any one but Him (God is a Jealous God).
Below this line is why I beleive in the tri-part nature of God.

Oneness believers believe in one God as most Christianity claims, they believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, but instead of looking at as separate personalities or beings the see the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost to be One in number. They believe that there is one Spirit of God and that that Spirit indwelt in the Son of God which is the Flesh. Note that error of the Trinity assumes that the Son has always existed, but scripturally this is not true. Jesus is referred to as the only begotten, you can not be begotten and eternal in the same essence at the same time. Oneness believers do not believe that the flesh of Jesus was God but that God indwelt in the flesh. God cannot die, but the flesh (Jesus) died, therefore the term God the Son is inaccurate and unbiblical. The Oneness of God is so important because it separates the Oneness from the trinity. The trinity doctrine divides God into a unity, but when one says God is one unity he ceases to be One God in number. God is not a unity of persons God is one in number and in person. How can one take the mind of God and within the mind of God create another person of God. When I say Jesus I mean the Son of God which was made of a woman, and when I say God I refer to the Spirit, please note that Jesus is the name of both the Son and the Spirit, I did this for emphasis to point out the difference of substance of Spirit and flesh. The oneness of God is about God being an omnious concept of all levels of existance combined.
Eg. Christians believe in the Holy Trinity; Son Father & Holy Ghost. They all have different purposes and stories. Whereas, Oneness includes all of those elements as one. Absolutely

for believers God is unity in an otherwise dysfunctional world, the reality of God`s oneness in the Godhead(Father,Son and Holy Spirit) is a soothing and reassuring reality in the chaos of everyday life, in connecting to this oneness by living a life of faith the believer also experiences a higher form of oneness within themselves and with other believers.

The oneness of G-d is the foundation of both Judaism and Islam, which is why it is held in high importance. Both religions are the antitheses of the paganism which was rampant centuries ago.
The oneness of G-d means that He has no blood relatives, no physical children, and He is undivided.

The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are the same. Like I am a father and a son and a grandfather, all three titles describe me. So God wanted to let everyone know that He is all. He is our Father, He is the Son, who delivered us from our sins, and he is The Holy Ghost who is our comforter. When Jesus said be baptised in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost, He was describing Himself, Jesus.
I think the main thing is to believe that Jesus came to Earth to save us from our sins. We should ask God for forgiveness and ask him to send the comforter to us to help us in fighting the lyre and deceiver, the devil and all his angels, for they temp us all each and every day. Everyone knows who their demons are. Pray that God will send the Holy Ghost to help with our temptations and keep us holy and pure so one day we can spend eternity with Jesus.

It means no divided aspect to the divine but then it doesn't explain why God would create a universe surely then He would just bask in his blessed unity.
