It is not customary to tip the owner, only employees. I tried to tip the owner of my facial salon and she refused the tip, so I guess that is the industry standard.

My Mom used to go to a very expensive hair salon in So. Calif and she is up on etiquette and said no you don't have to tip a hairdresser if he or she is the owner of the salon. She didn't have her hair done by the owners but referred many customers to them and she had a hairdresser cutting her hair until her prices went up to $60.00 so she could no longer afford to go.

Yes I think so as long as she or he does a good job for example the bartender at the bar I go to when I do go out owns the bar and he is really good to his customers he treats me with respect and always serves me right away even though he owns the bar and doesn't need the money he deserves a tip to show I appreciate his service.

Etiquette is purely reliable manners and kindness. it really is often happening to tip a hairdresser no matter if or not they personal the salon or no longer. it really is a thanks to reveal appreciation for a job properly finished in any line of work, yet amenities render might want to continually be tipped in my view. even as some one is variety to you you ought to continually educate appreciation in some variety or yet another no matter if it really is a tip or a grin or only a heartfelt thanks.

If the owner of the salon is the one who does your hair, then the answer is yes, because she still work from serving you.

Actually, I think by law you are not supposed to tip the owner of an establishment. Same goes for restaurants and such.

Mine won't except tips. But I love her and her dog Shrek so I walked over to the store and bought a dog toy for Shrek...He loved it and you would be surprised how many people just think good I don't have to give anymore money! most people will not go out of their way for anyone especially a hair dresser. sad really.

Well, of course. Just because she own the shop, doesn't mean she doesn't need the money!
