Cradle cap is usually easily spotted by its appearance, but a doctor can quickly confirm the diagnosis. In mild cases no particular treatment is necessary and the condition will settle with time. Daily shampooing with a mild shampoo, and gentle massaging with fingers or a soft brush may loosen the scales but don't pick at the skin. Emollient creams (from the pharmacy) may also help.
In more severe cases your doctor may suggest an ointment containing sulphur and salicylic acid, which is applied to the scalp for several hours each day and then washed off. If large areas of the skin are affected a mild steroid cream may be used. In older children, over-the-counter 'dandruff' or medicated shampoos may reduce flaking and dryness.

As a nurse, I have had many elderly patients (including my own father) placed under my care who have had terrible cases of cradle cap. In the elderly, it is seen in persons who have had a stroke. To clear this up, I used Neutragena T-Gel Shampoo. It is excellent. You can just follow the directions. No hard scrubbing is needed and over the next few shampoos it will be entirely gone and stay away with normal shampooing to keep the hair and scalp clean. I would read the information on the bottle prior to purchasing it to make sure it can be used on one so young. Thank you for your question and good luck with your daughter.

Use a product you can buy from the chemist....its called Oilatum. Both my children had it as babies. Just use a little on the scalp leave for about 5 minutes then gently run a fine tooth comb through and watch it lift off. You can buy different Oilatum products i.e bath oil etc, just ask the pharmacist for the concentrated oil for cradle cap. I hope this helps you.

Have you tried putting baby oil on and just kind of scraping it off? At two years she may be able to have a medication put on or a medicated shampoo but check with the Dr. prior to using anything like that. I'd go for the old baby oil treatment.LOL

Warm olive oil on the affected area, you have to be patient but it does work , when the cradle cap loosens, gently remove apply more olive oil and it will go eventually!

baby oil or almond oil in their hair and then gently combed out will help lift it off. Don't use a heavy shampoo and if she has it very badly or suffers with other skins probs sch as excema there is treatments the dr can prescribe.

Scrub the area using a soft fingernail brush and regular shampoo. Worked on both my kids.
