No one can know that, except God, because that would be decided on the Day of Judgement. However one should always ask for mercy and forgiveness from God, who is alone (has no son).

You know because your repenting when you sin, your heart is soft to God. You have a desire to do His will.
I know because, I am "working" on my relationship with God, in the same way that I work on my relationship with Husband.
I read my Bible to learn more about God, I pray and communicate with Him, I am fulfilling the great commision, I accept God's discipline, God's love, God's words, I am listening and acting upon His gentle voice a lot quicker these days.
I know because I have the peace that surpasses all understanding, His Joy is my strength...
Oh and another one, I get attacked by the devil - the devil doesn't attack Christians who are doing a nice job of moving away from God, on their own, through the troubles of life. (I have had troubles - I am an overcomer)

I will assume this is a serious question and you are truly wanting to know....
Jesus described it as work of the Spirit of God within a human heart. It is not based on feelings... you might not "feel" saved. But the evidence of being saved soon becomes apparent - a changed life, changed attitude, changed goals, etc.
Salvation is based on fact:
1. that Jesus lived and died upon the cross
2. that He died as a sacrifice for our sins
3. that He promised that whosoever believes in Him shall have eternal life ( are saved).
As we confess our sins, accept Jesus as our Savior, ask Him into our lives, and turn away from ourselves and look to Him, the Spirit of God somehow - what a mystery - somehow makes it real to us that we are changed, that we are children of God, that we are saved, that we have the indwelling Christ wthin our hearts.

you dont. thats why it's called "faith". if you prayed for forgivness, and you meant it with all your heart, body, and soul, you are saved. if you are the least bit phony and you did it for selfish reasons, you must pray to be saved again, this time meaning it. Jesus loves each and everyone of his children, and he is more than willing to save you. Sometimes, you can talk to God. The good voices in your head are either God, Jesus, Mary, or an angel talking to you. Open your mind and soul and you will be able to talk right back to them. I know this. Keep praying.
