If you're a woman and you were to receive a military medal or a decorative sabre form your husband or your boyfriend for your birthday or a wedding anniversary or Christmas. Instead of a typical ring or bracelet. Would you get upset or disappointed?

Most women prefer a gift that has taken a little thought and is something personal to that individual . If she likes that sort of stuff , then yes, but the real question is what is this woman to you. If she is more than a friend there may be a better gift to give. If she is a relative look to necessities. If she is a girl friend, look to a romantic item, evening out some place special , or just a lady's special (i.e., salon day or romantic dinner, book about a subject she enjoys), One gift i especially enjoyed and have yet to forget was a dinner out at a favorite resteraunt a night in a hotel suite with a hot tub . It was seafood , eight hours sleep, and a two hour soak.

Women generally don't like violence so I would not be so pleased unless I knew the very special meaning it had for the man who gave it to me. He would also have to be my soul mate. I don't think it is about the monatary value of the gift as much as the sentimental value. Now if I was married to a very rich man who was very stingy and he gave me cheap costume jelwery as a gift when he could afford diamonds and gold I would have to say I would be upset because I would feel he did not value me. When I was starting out very young in my first marriage we were living on a shoe string and needed household items. At that time that is what I asked for because funds were so tight. You should feel your mate out. If my partner asked me now and I am in a new relationship after 22 years I would say some special day spent together doing anything we both enjoy! If my soul mate gave me a piece of his mother's jewlery that was left to him I would be very pleased even if I did not like the design of the item because I would feel so valued and special.

Well, I surely would. It depends on the woman and what she's into. Does she collect military stuff? If not, I'd save those gifts for a time she isn't so likely to use the sabre on you.

I would be a bit disappointed but I wouldn't show it especially if it was something important to him. I will try to save his feelings and appreciate it in some way... am sure there are some women who would like such a gift but not me ...I like to receive pretty things (jewelry, etc - not necessarily expensive ones) and gifts that smell really good (perfume, etc)

Personally I would not. (I like history) But, how many women are interested in that kind of thing? So quit digging in your sock drawer and get off your wallet buy her a nice piece of jewelry, she won't wear the medal.
