A duffel bag weighted and stuffed. I fixed one for my son for his practice sessions. Army surplus is where I found a duffel bag. I weighted it with sand, purchased at Wal-Mart, in the bottom and stuffed it with old clothes, towels, blankets, and rags that I packed as hard as I could. He loved it.

I went down the sand bag route - the sand became compressed and very hard, so I opens and tries to loosen it by handling it running it through my fingers. Apart from the fact that it went everywhere, with me being as carefull as I could not to lose any, it had somehow got damp, 'from sitting on a desk in my room(?)' you tell me how that happened. Gave up on the sand bag and concentrate on fast in and faster out with my punches/ kicks. Reconsider if you 'realy need' this piece of equipment, shadow sparring works up a sweat just fine for me. Hope this helps, it is from my own personal experience.

How about SLAMMAN, he is really good, lights light up for you to punch and he is weighted down with sand, so you can kick the S*it out of him too. I used to have one, and they are really good.
Have a look at the following website
http://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.uk/store/product.asp?dept%5Fid=11&pf%5Fid=Slamman%5FSlam%5FMan
if you like it, check on ebay if their is one for sale cheaper.
All the best.
ps. He could stand in the corner, and when you go on holiday, put him in the window, so it looks like you are in. lol

I agree with northcarrlight. Shadow boxing is a great way to work on speed, accuracy and balance. You can work on your form, which will in turn improve your power and speed.

adopt a 3rd world country orphan, then you have your own personal punching bag, it can be stored in your closet and you only need to feed it twice a month - ENJOY!
