I had a wisdom tooth pulled out recently, it's healing up nicely but because I've been eating with the other side of my mouth, part of my gum on that side is swollen as a result of pressure and making eating very painful. I know the obvious thing is to go to the dentist but they cost quite a fortune. I had a tooth removed recently so I know!

hydrogen peroxide 20% volume from any chemist about 80p, corsodyl mouth wash, coengyme q10 capsules are best thing ever for promoting healthy gums and invest in philips sonicare toothbrush really expensive but well worth money, had same prob as you gums even started receeding at bottom since using all the above (mainly cq10 and sonicare) my teeth are whiter and gums are nice and pink with no swelling
you shuld prob ask doctor for some amoxicillan anti biotics aswell

There is a chance this is not a gum abscess it may be an abscess at the root of a nearby tooth. If its a true gum abscess then you may have food lodged between gum and tooth that may have to be removed. It is very important ( more so when pregnant) to get this taken care of. The infection can effect the health of your child. You may be able to get an extraction of the tooth covered under medical insurance. In many areas there are free or low cost dental clinics you may go to as well. I wish you luck and these do not clear up on their own. The pain may go away if the abscess is able to drain but the infection and health risk is still there.

I have had the same problem recently on two occasions ... uncomfortable and worrying. I was recommended mouth rinsing with Corsadyl ( most supermarkets have it as well as pharmacies ) but that can stain your teeth so regular light brushing was also necessary. The best results were obtained by dipping a cotton bud in Corsadyl and applying it locally to the affected gum ... worked wonders! Try it a few times a day. Also important is regular light brushing of the affected area to keep it clean and promote fresh saliva production. Good luck!

If its not the other wisdom tooth coming in I would rinse with salt water a couple time a day or Listerine if U feel it may be getting infected. Also I would increase Vitamin C by drinking some orange juice or something else high in C but not the supplement Vit. C made from ascorbic acid because that is only a portion of natural or whole food component Vit.C Last but not least I would eat soft foods for awhile an give them time to heal.

Hey, guess what, I got exactly the same problem as you RIGHT NOW!!!

Pretty sure mines an absess, keeps bursting every now and then. Yours sound infected too so i'd probably say goto dentists and ask for metronidazole 400g, that will clear it up.

hope this helps

Rinsing with salt water is always a good one, but clove oil is also brilliant. Doesnt taste too nice, but works a treat!

Dissolve salt in water as hot as you can take it without burning yourself, swish the solution around your mouth and between your teeth, then spit it out. Good luck!
