First off.... I agree with you...
"The Virgin Mary"
In those days the term 'virgin' did not mean the same thing as it does today. The term 'virgin' in that space and time meant that Mary was "a woman without a man/ husband".
Secondly.... many studies have been done both in and out of church authorized/ sponsored venues to discuss the subject of her alleged 'virginity'. The Catholic Church maintains that she was and remained forever a 'Virgin" (odd thing in light of the meaning of the word back then). Another school of thought (widely criticized by the Church of course) is that Mary was indeed made pregnant by a man and that Joseph harbored her to protect her marrying her to give her legitimacy once more and adopting Jesus as his own. As the Jewish punishment for sleeping with a Roman back then was stoning, he could very well have done this to save her life.
Lastly.... the brothers (and possibly sisters) is mentioned in Matthew 13:54-56 and the brothers are named; James, Joseph, Simon and Judas. There is however some debate over the term 'brother' since it can also mean niece and nephew in Aramaic.
I believe she was a "woman without a man" when she got pregnant..... and I believe she gave birth to a child while she was married to Joseph, and that child was probably named Jesus.
As far as Jesus being the "Son of God"..... that was not even a common belief until over 350 years later after the Council of Nicea as ordered by Emperor Constantine......

According to the New Testament, Mary and Joseph had other children as a married couple. James is thought to be one of them (Jude 1:1, Mark 6:3, John 11:19) and is the writer, in the Book of James.

after Mary had Jesus, she had other children with Joseph. Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ, not God. God does not have a mother. Mary was a virgin when she had Jesus Christ.

no, Mary had other children after Jesus was born. And I highly doubt that she and joseph didn't have sex until after he was born either. The wedding night is as much a part of the ceremony as the actual marriage ceremony.

Christians would rather you believe that God had his way with an underage girl, than the fact that Joseph and Mary did a little fooling around. Pretty sad bunch of people. It's no wonder their churches are full of thousands of pedophiles.

Mary was created specifically to be the Mother of God, and as a result, was very specially privileged.
Mary was dedicated to God from her conception ... body and soul.
Once Jesus had been conceived in her womb, and carried there for 9 months, she became a holy vessel, the literal "Ark" of the New Covenant, and the "Christ Bearer" ... forever.
Once God consecrated Mary in this manner, she would never return to her former state, as the purpose of her existence and her true destiny would now always be intricately interwoven with that of her divine son.
Those who knew Mary in real life knew that she was always a virgin ... before, during, and after the birth of Christ.
And in spite what some think they read in scripture, nothing in the Bible indicates that Mary had any offspring other than Jesus.
Anyone who thinks that foregoing sexual intercourse would be unlikely for one who was so uniquely blessed as this, is spiritually blind.
Mary's continuing role after Jesus' birth was as his mother, and as his first, best, and most constant disciple.
The church experienced the Blessed Virgin as she was, knew her well, cared for her after the death, resurrection, and acsension of Jesus Christ, and knows first hand.all the true facts of the matter.
And since Mary's continuing fate wasn't critical to the story of redemption, there was no reason or necessity to include all the pertinent details in scripture.
St. John, the last apostle, was charged with her care, and St. Luke almost certainly relied on her eye-witness testimony in writing his Gospel.
The sense of the church regarding her perpetual virginity is the only valid and factual point of view in this matter, and it has always been so, long before any new testament scripture was ever set to writing.
Mary's singular privilege, her immaculate conception, her sinless existence, the virgin birth of Christ, her dormition, her subsequent assumption, body and soul, into heaven, and her enthronement there, at the right hand of her divine son, Jesus, are dogmas of the Catholic Church, the same church that was founded by Christ to distribute the fruits of his redemptive work to the whole world.
Take it all, or leave it alone.

Mary always was a virgin and always is. This is a special grace God has bestowed on her for saying "yes" to his will and bearing his only son, Jesus.
