Would someone be kind enough to give me opinions on this room setup?

-The walls are white. The ceiling is white and is 3 meters high. about 9 ft
-The floor is light colored ash.
-The curtains are yellowish cream with light color stripes.
-The desk and book case are matching light cherry wood color.
-They are classic styling furniture.
-The door is a very very dark brown (not reddish but more blackish brown) classic shaped door.
-The room has enough room to fit a couch /convertible bed.

The couch I am thinking about getting is a classic styled couch. The problem is the color.

The color I like is a dark brown color with floral accents in various cream and tan color. The brown is not as dark as the door but definetly darker than the book case and the desk.

Would this couch go well with the room mentioned above or are there too many dark elements in the room?

BTW currently there is no rug in the room.

Is this color too dark for a study room?

i like this idea of the floral, the rest sounds so stark. i would add a bit of warmth to it with some accent peices in a burdendy or burnt orange color also. if you go with a solid neutral color, it will look so boring and plain. i would guess that is not the look you are going for. also depends on the size of the room. the curtains, does the cream-yellow come close to any of the colors in the couch? if not, you may want to consider new ones, with one or two of the colors in the couch, maybe some sheers or lace with a darker solid color valance or swag. sounds nice though, good luck

I will tell you what all of the decorating shows say. Always get a GOOD NEUTRAL SOFA.

Put your color on a wall, that can be changed for $100.00 or less. The sofa you will have forever and it costs much more. Try a solid, tan or taupe or beige. Do not get a print, as they will date to a specific year they were made. Mine certainly do.

Is this a rental, that you cannot paint? If so add a bright rug and curtains to punch up the place. Stay with a neutral sofa and add bright throw pillows and a throw (for winter naps). If the bright walls are not an option, then the bright accents will work and they will be yours if you move.

Find a bright rug you love, curtains that will go and a fabric for the pillows or pillows that are bright and spunky. Find a common neutral in those things that will work on a sofa.

Good Luck.

i think it would be very nice, but i would advise to match the curtains to the couch, you`ll need to buy another set.i would pick out a solid color in the floral design. i`ll have to agree with above, i`ve had a floral couch & a blue one. i grew to hate.i,now have a creamy tan, which i still love.

I think it would be great. It's not too dark because of the white walls and light floor.

Go for a neutral color! You can always add throw pillows or throws in various colors!
