there are so many different diseases of the eye. My grandmother has macular degeneration and that was caused by having cholesterol, aging or just runs in your family.
Look after your eye sight and get a check up every 3 years even if u think everything is fine.

i heard long exposures to computer screens affect your vision >< and reading or watching TV in the dark or in dim light will strain your eyes. as well as not protecting your eyes in the sun.
you may also lose your vision ofcourse..when stuff gets in your eyes that damage your cornea. glass..poisonous liquids..etc..etc...
but MOSTLY..bad vision runs in the family. It has to do with your genetics. most likely if your parents and siblings wear glasses..u will too.
as far as myself~ i think i am BLIND without my glasses. everything is a BLUR..like i'm walking through fog. i think it has alot to do with genetics..because everyone in my family has bad vision..and it also has to do with the fact that i'm in front of the computer alot..and don't get enough vitamin A. i heard eye work-out helps? like moving your eyes around in different directions as you would move your body around when you're working out.
i should start doing that *sigh* my eyes don't seem to be getting any better. hopefully...eye surgery willl be more advance in the future..cause i might consider it.

It sometimes happens due to brain disease e.g. a tumour, following an accident-sporting or motor accident. Diseases of the eye like glaucoma can cause it too.
