cetaphil is in my opinion better, that proactive stuff is harsh on skin I do not think it is good at all.

I personally like Cetaphil best. But if you are bent on trying ProActiv, there are store brands at both WalMart and Target for about $20. I tried both and neither worked as well as Cetaphil for me. I would say go with the Generic or the Cetaphil, the Proactiv just isn't worth the money.

As a user of both cetaphil and proactiv, I believe proactiv when used correctly (do all three steps, but only once or twice a day) is more than worth the money. For the first 6 months it cleared my skin completely. My acne returned slightly and after trying many different products I have found that the Jan Marini products (the bioclear cream for example) used after washing with proactive has been working wonders. Oh and the secret to incredibly soft skin after all those harsh treatments is a product by Tarte cosmetics called Clean Slate. It makes makes makeup go on beautifully and it does not make my face breakout and the luxurious soft feeling of my face after using it was better than anything I have ever used. And believe me I have used it all.
However everyone is different and what works for me may not work for you. But cetaphil never made any difference for me what so ever. My skin continued to break out as usual. Benzyol sp? peroxide, the active ingredient in proactiv is actually the best at killing acne for most people although salicylic acid usually works too (although apparently you skin can adapt to it making it worthless unlike BP).
I hope that any of this information is useful to you, good luck!

Proactive IS VERY GOOD! I used cetaphil for years its a nice product, but if you are trying to get rid of acne or pimples proactive is for you.I have 2 sons that went through a bad phase with their skin and I ordered it and believe me it works. The commercials you see are actually true.Plus my sister in law who is in her late 40s uses it to this day also, she had very bad skin went to a dermotologist for years and then found proactive now thats all she needs and they all swear by it.

if you have a serious acne problem then i would recommend the proactiv because it contains medication to fight the acne.
cetaphil is only a mild facial soap
so depending on what your problem is on your face that should help you make a decision as to what product you want to go with
