Depends on the work and how detailed, mine got $100, well worth it to me! Took several hours to complete.

By "get paid" do you mean how much does the artist earn, or how much they charge the customer?
Tattoo artists that work for a shop generally get paid on commission, not by the hour. Depending on the arrangement with the shop owner, roughly around 50%
If the shop is one person, providing the artist is also the owner, they get it all, whether the price of the tattoo was a flat price or by the hour.
Regarding what shops charge by the hour...provided they don't quote a flat rate for a given piece, you can expect anywhere from $75 (USD) to as much as $300+ per hour... all depending on the shop or artist's portfolio, reputation, and waiting list.

My tattoo artist charges $120 p/h for the work done. He owns the shop so he'd have to take out his expenses but it'd still be a decent income ($50-$80 an hour depending on the artist) for doing something you love :)
My tatt cost $220 but he spent about 3 hours on it so I got a pretty good deal :)

an entire sleeve Biomech is basically not low cost. normally, the completed piece is drawn on freehand to confirm the layout will good circulate with the curvature and muscular tissues on your arm. applying stencils won't gain this. do not settle for a 'stable' artist. quite, somebody who specializes or excels in freehand artwork. Pricing will selection between artists & studios. here interior the U. S. it fairly is often one hundred fifty an hour.
